Metallica Sue Canadian Band over E, F Chords
« on: July 19, 2003, 07:26:53 PM »
"Ulrich states that he's not trying to prevent Unfaith from using the two chords, only that he feels Metallica should be credited for them whenever used, and is calling for 50% of all revenue generated from any song using them.
"It's nothing personal against them," he added. "We intend to enforce our rights with any band intending to use Metallica-branded chords in the future." "

Is it even music related?

I guess it's just one of those bizzare enough to report things? And I guess since Metallica was so invlolved in the P2P lawsuits a while back which affected everyone, they are someone to be watched..

As for this itself, it is ridiculous. Metallica has fallen so far below even KISS on the shameless a$$hole scale it isn't funny IMO.

-Edit-

Ok, you got me for sure :-o
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

:roflmao:

That's rich, coming from the band (or not ;-) ) who made 'Garage Days (re)Revisited' containing nothing but cover songs, and generally jumping on every trend and cliché since the early 90's

Please note they are arguing about the E, F chord succession, not the chords themselfves. I think it's stupid anyway. Metallica even if they are completely sold out, are shooting themselves in the foot. I've followed the band in the early days, and I never thought they'd turn out like this.... sight

What part of "it's fake" are we missing here?  Look at the ACTUAL URL!  It's a spoof of the MTV site, NOT actually the MTV site.  ;-)

Even though it's fake I wouldn't put this past Metallica, well Lars anyhow.  the problem is that Metallica have got their heads so far up their own arses these days that I would expect this sort of thing.  All the evidence for my case is in the new St.Anger video, Hetfield looks like one of the guys from Hale and Pace and that new bassist looks like a right twat.

Take me back to the days of Kill em' All and I'll be well happy, infact if you take me back then I get to experience the Amigas hay day all over again ;)
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

"...and that new bassist looks like a right twat".

Rob is the bassist from Suicidal Tendencies. I don't think he's sold out. I bet he'll probably get out of the band himself sometime soon!

Yeah... that's why it's so believable!!  The page was spot-on, too.  I really was completely fooled for a minute or two before figuring it out, and I wasn't even hung-over! haha!

Metallica definatly peaked around '90, and haven't done much useful, since.
