Here is the sixteenth information release for AmiWest 2003. This is
a text-only message. The HTML version is posted n our webpage at

complete release.
BANQUET SPEAKERS FOR AMIWEST 2003 ARE NOW CONFIRMED!
Many of you have been emailing us regarding who will be speaking at
the AmiWest 2003 banquet. We have been in contact with several people
who are influential in our world-wide community and have finalized our
plans from among those people.
In the past, AmiWest has featured one main banquet speaker, tending to
exclusively favor those who have represented Amiga Inc. This year,
we are changing that policy and inviting several people from the
community to participate in a panel discussion at the AmiWest banquet.
This had been suggested by a couple of you and we, the AmiWest
Committee, thought this the best format for 2003.
First on the list of our speakers is the moderator of our panel,
Kermit Woodall. We know him as the man from ImageFX. He is also one
of the most articulate community members that we have. Add to that
the respect that he has gained from many (if not most) in our
community and an ability to analyze "on the fly." He seemed to be an
ideal moderator for this discussion and we are happy to confirm that,
indeed, he has agreed to do so.
As we were working with Kermit to finalize a list of participants, we
thought that Bill Buck would be a great representative for Genesi,
their Pegasos boards and MorphOS. Next on the list will be Kurt Grach
from Mr. Hardware, representing AmigaOne matters. Then there is Jens
Shoenfeld of Individual Computers whose newest project is the C= One
mainboard, not forgetting his other considerable contributions in the
area of Amiga (and compatibles) hardware. One other participant
remains, who will participate if the airplane lands in time.
So there you have it! The AmiWest 2003 banquet panel should provide a
lively look at the products currently available/on display, short-term
plans for their respective arms of our diversifying community, and
vision for the future as it unfolds and we all adapt to changing
circumstances.
For our community is growing and changing. New ideas are emerging and
new capacities are being made available while respecting and building
upon all that has gone before. Changes are always heart-wrenching but
they are fraught with new creative possibilities as well. We believe
that our panel can provide another look at these changes and how we
can all benefit and prosper from them.
