My emulation of the Amiga 1200
« on: October 05, 2003, 10:42:55 PM »
Hi all,

I was to the Amiga Stand in rotterdam where they promted the newest amiga`s.
Now that turns me on, because i have an Amiga 1200 68030@050Mhz and 16MB mem.
So i put on my pc the emulator and it runs like hell

Here the sysinfo of my pc first.

P4P800 Asus DualDDR 400Mhz
Intel 2.4Ghz 533FSB 512kb L2 cache.
GForce 4 TI 4200 64MB DDR @500Mhz (creative Blaster)

Here the specs of the emulator:

Amiga 1200 68040@080Mhz 8MB cache on proc. 512MB Fast mem and 8 MB video Mem. with AGA support
Frame speeds in games and demo`s are: 70 a 80 FPS.
3D is beter emulated than before.

This is realy fast for a P4.
I still test the preformence of it, but it seems to be perfect.
No bugs or other things.

I hope that the future of the newest amiga`s will be beter than this
I will wait and i hope it will.

erm ok i think you need to know how an actual AMIGA works before you state such , sure the 030 is ok ...well back in 93.

if u prefer emulation , then do so.

i prefer amiga because then i wont have to run WINDOWS or when i buy stuff it doesnt say WINDOWS on it or preinstalled with WINDOWS.

oh btw, yes winuae is the best uae atm , hopefully that wont last but i am afraid it will oh and yes...did u notice that amiga is PPC by now? , and how does uae(+/-Wind) perform there?

anyway welcome to this board...
Whats up with all the hate!

you obviously havent done much witht he emu yet as its far from trouble free ;)

sound support is really bad atm and even on the fastest pc is stutters like hell no matter the app/game through paula emulation.  Just try playing a music mod, it wont sound right at all.

Through ahi is another matter though no probs what so ever, but for normal stuff, its bad news ;)  its bsdsocket emulation is far from perfect, functional but not 100% like it would be on my amiga (ppc equipped).

There are other niggles also but youll come across them over time. And yes i have latest winuae setup with os39,ahi and other os stuff. on a 2.4gig amd rig.

I run the latest WinUAE set up as close to my A3000 as I can get it. Its perfect, and runs much faster then my 060 3000 does. I play mods just fine as well as demos with no sound problems at all. I run it on a P4 1.6 with 1GB of RIMM memory, SB live and Radion 9200 pro. Fot the most part though I just put it on to see how it works. I use my A3000 more just because I hate that damn PC. Its the wifes computer as far as I care.

The sound is perfect here.
I had the latest version of Winuae designed for the P4.
Only the problem is that the graphics are faster than the sound :D

The Graphics are nice, but it could be better.

I like to have a real PPC for my A1200 68020.
Itstill has his Blizzard 030@50Mhz with 16MB of ram.

I would try installing the AHI sound hack that lets you use your sound card in the pc instead of the emulated paula. There is a program on aminet that allows you to divert paula sound to ahi as well..

You have to install AHI first though.. AHI is hardware independent sound. Works great with my AC97 and SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 with a little tweaking. MP3s play great using AmigaAMP with ahi enabled.

Euh why?

I got perfect sound here, only the graphics are faster than the sound.
I got no sound like we had before with the old WinUAE.
Need only a timer for the graphics, so the sound an graphics go even fast.

hmmm you must be joking you cannot emulate Amiga OS 100 %. Anyway you would ever never emulate PowerPC native AmigaOS 4.0 on a piece of crap that PC #### are!!!!.

I saw on a site there is Game Cube emulator for x86 intel and they play Zelda, hahahha the emulator run Zelda with 1 or 2 FPS, like I said befor you will never emulate Amiga PPC machines better than that, so my point is: You Can Not Emulate Amiga Feelings on that crapy x86 architectur!!

Now I've had a few thought about this. It could be a possible concern for amiga and genesi.
If someone did graft a jit ppc emulator on to UAE to make look like a cyberstorm was present, then "in theory" you could run ppc OS4 and MorphOS on it. Once a ppc processor emulation is present I bet it would take some too long to get UAE emulating  Pegasos / A1 on very fast X86 hardware.

What is the point of this post ?? Amiga emulation has been around for ages and of course you where amazed with the speed compared to your 030 16mb aga but if you had a real amiga (060+rtg at least) maybe you wouldn't find it that great. UAE sucks and it will always do..... you can polish #### but it stays ####.....  Get a real amiga and post something usefull....
