New KDE/GNOME LiveCDs for the PowerPC

Taken from the gentoo site:
New KDE/GNOME LiveCDs for the PowerPC

In a recent Slashdot article, someone asked if it were possible to create a fully-featured bootable Linux LiveCD for the Macintosh.

We thought this was a great idea. So today, we are releasing two full-featured LiveCDs for the PowerPC: one with KDE 3, and another with GNOME 2. Take a look at the KDE LiveCD running MacOS X in a window via Mac-on-Linux.

To use the LiveCDs, Simply boot one on your NewWorld PowerPC (iMac or newer) and enjoy the great performance and functionality of Gentoo Linux/PPC.

Source: Gentoo

(I wonder if they work on the AmigaONE?)

Its Funny, becaue the CEO or main guru of Gentoo actualy an Amiga guy :).. He wrote some Amiga articles on an IBM technical website a year or two ago. I actualy referenced one of them in an article i wrote.

He's last article about Amiga was about the DE i think... but i could be wrong!

Just curious

Has anyone managed to get these to boot on an A1 or Peg yet?

If yes, what "steps" are required.

I know from personal experience that OpenFirmware does not allow CD boot by default (you have to go into the open firmware console and type strange commands).
So please... try and share ;-)

Darren
