Poll: Will you buy AmigaOS for your BlizzardPPC?

As Hyperion will probably keep the results of their own survey to themselves for a while but a lot of BlizzardPPC owners might be quite curious about the real demand for a BlizzardPPC port of OS4, Amiga-News.de have set up a poll to gauge said demand:

I would tend to agree with those who would say, that
you should evaluate the price and suitability of
software before making a purchasing decision.

DCE still lists the Blizzard PPC as a current product...
though perhaps a small number, why do we assume
that no one will purchase a BlizzPPC after the
release of OS 4...in other words, why not poll that
result too, instead of assuming?

I, for one, was able to get a complete set up for under
200 dollars, and even adding a blizzPPC, though
expensive, was still the cheapest route to OS 4,
and besides I wanted the classic set up to do some
stuff in classic mode.

I doubt I would be the only one....the release of OS 4
will cause people to get hardware that runs it,
if they can only afford a blizzard (which is still
the least expensive route for some)...they might
go that route.

yes there is it logs your isp number so they are all proper votes .why not finish os4 for amigaone before asking if it is wanted for the ancient ppc classic amiga, :-?

Same here. I'm not going to pay for OS4, since I've no need for it, but if I can get it for free, then why not.

I think they always said they would finish it for AmigaONE before the Blizzard.  But if someone has a blizzard, and is waiting for OS 4, it would be nice to know if Hyperion is cancelling that plan.  For one,
that would be good new to eyetech, probably
a few of the Blizz owners would upgrade to an
AmigaONE.  It would also be a sad day as
a lot of people realize they will be priced out of OS 4,
and some will leave this market.

But its important to know, so people can make wise
purchasing decisions.

People who said MorphOS is the only solution for Blizzard owners, would have been shot down in flames for spreading FUD, everyone knew, before
yesterday, that Blizzard was an OS 4 target platform.

Now, everyone knows Hyperion never promised anything.

Amazing...anyway, its just about expectations.
If someone is making a purchasing decision,
like I did last week.  I chose a Towerized A1200
over a A4000 because I thought the A1200 could
support OS 4 through the blizzard, and maybe
10% chance through the sharkppc someday.

now...who knows...

I have a A1200 Tower with a blizzard 240PPC/040@ 25 mhz & a bvision graphics card sitting right here on the floor under my desk. The only reason I even turn it on these days is to listen to my MODS or use Miami/Samba to move my old work to my freakin Windows2k box. I think they are wasting thier time with the Blizzard version. I kind of like the Apple approach of "upgrade or be left behind" If I wanted OSX to run on my power Mac 8500 w/ a G3 upgrade card, I be SOL without a third party.. If you want to continue to support this platform then buy a Amiga1 with OS4 when its ready.  The A1200 has way to many hacks to be supported by OS4. If they even  try, everyone will bitch and cry when OS4 doesnt support their pcmcia network card, or my PCI expansion board, ETC.........

If people like myself who have bought ppc cards and blizardvision graphics cards could afford to buy them then they mus be able to aford an a1 as it is not that much more expensive.

get deliplayer for the pc then you can play your mods and not have to use your amiga :-o

When I bought my 060 PPC with BVision it was more expensive (just the turbocard and videocard) than my Pegasos with Radeon8500, 80Gb HDD, 128 Mb RAM, etc altogether.

Yet, you cannot sell used hardware for the price you bought it. It affect the ownerships (A1 or BPPC) in two ways:

- if you recently afforded a new BPPC then it's not granted that you have the money for a similar expensive purchase
- if you purchased an used BPPC then it's unlikely that you have money for a much more expensive board

ATM I don't have the funds to get an AmigaONE. Luckily, I don't have to be hasty, I could use LinuxPPC on my Pegasos (which I still don't use at all :-) (EDIT: I meant LinuxPPC :-))) Yet, I'm curious about OS4, so I'd like to see, and then purchase it.
