Pegasos reviewed on Apple site
« on: June 03, 2003, 01:37:22 PM »
Applelinks.com recently posted a positive review and writeup of the Pegasos' ability to run MacOS as well as other operating systems.  You can read it Here

Wouldn't this also apply for the AmigaOne machine?, or are they completely different in their hardware?

The main reason for being able to use MacOS X on the AOne would be that it's easier to get the amiga into the office.

When noone is watching you, you just switch into the amiga environment instead of the mac, and then suddenly you only run the amiga... .    :-D  :-D

However this doesn't apply for me, i'm already working full time with WinUAE over here..    :-)

Nice news anyway.
Shut up, bignose!  :-D

The reason that people want Pegasos running MacOS is because PowerMacs are massively overpriced and Pegasos are relatively cheap. The A1 is still not that much cheaper than the PowerMacs (if it all), so I can't see it becoming popular for that...

That said, what will run on Pegasos will run on A1. They are mainly compatible boards. There's no reason why an A1 user couldn't install Linux and MOL on top of that, or just use MacOS directly (if Apple ever allow it, that is).

What a long and positive review.

It looked very biased, but perhaps he is just a very positive person, or pegasos/morphos really is incredible :-)

Anyways, nice review.

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

Mac On Linux.

So no the Pegasos can not run MacOS.

The Pegasos can run Linux native wich the linux ability can run the Mac emulated.

The heading sure makes it sound like its running native.

Sorry, but now I really have to ***.
This must be one of the most ***
articles about Pegasos/MOS Ive ever stumbled on.

Either its written by Genesi, or the Mac-folks are
*** happy about having another system for
MacOS.

Dont get me wrong, I do dig PEG/MOS.

*hurgl*

Edit: Cencored  it :)

The "review" looks like a re-write of information that Genesi has written previously about the Peg-II, supposed firewire support, etc. The person who "wrote" it said that other reviewers said the system was very quiet, which to me insinuates that there was not an actual system being reviewed.

The only review I have seen from outside the Amiga/MorphOS community was from OS News's Eugenia.

Correct, but I should point out that this is not a limitation of the Pegasos but of Apple's licencing restrictions.

It would be nice if Pegasos had a cool case. Something that when someone sees it, he will recognise it at once!

BTW I like very much the add with the peg package.

@BBRV

>Pricing for the future...Pegasos Basic System (G3) 299 Euros, PegasosPower (G4) 499 Euros? Any more questions on pricing?

I have. For the pioneers who have bought G3 for $299, will we get peg 2 mobo+cpucard for 200e, or only cpucard?

I am asking, because:
a) If we will get Pegasos2+cpucard, I am willing to pay extra 200e in hope some developer(or other whome might help the platform) will get a chance to buy my used Peg1 mobo+cpucard for special price.

b) If only cpucard, 200e is a lot to ask for a few extra mhz, especially if I trade my old one in. At least I am not going for this option, don't know of others.
