I've heard the same thing Kent.  But then I've also heard that Genesi has a special contract with Mr. Stuntz so that their changes don't go back into the same source tree.

This is quite unfortunate as the only people suffering here are the Amiga (and Amiga-like such as AROS, etc) community.  It is most unfair to the registered users of MUI.  They (if registered) paid for the latest and greatest MUI and shouldn't be limited because Hyperion or Genesi are the company to make/implement a "cool new feature" and, IMO, if Genesi has access to the source tree that Hyperion is commiting their changes to, so should Hyperion have access to the changes Genesi makes to the MUI source tree.

As for gradients in the interface themselves, I'm not much of a fan since they are only glitz at the expense of CPU cycles better used for important tasks. Regardless of my opinion of gradients, I still think this is sad, if true, that registered MUI users who use MUI under anything but Peg won't see those gradients if they so choose to use them.

You get what you pay for. Pay less get less. Pay
more, get more. That's business.

@HMetal

a) get your facts straight ! AROS has NO access
to the MUI-CVS as they code their own MUI-clone
(zune), and whoever adds something to MUI "hurts"
AROS-users (by your definition).

b) noone buys the right for updates when he
registeres a shareware-SW, the buy the current
version, nothing more.

c) Hyperion has decided NOT to by a licence for a
registered MUI, but just access to the CVS, under
clear rules. If they don't like those rules they
can only blame themselves.

d) you do know who wrote the PPC-version found in
that CVS, which will most likely be the base
for OS4-version ?
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else
