I've noticed something. There are so many "Genesi attends" thisnthat articles, it's even boring to some degree. But it is a good thing IMO. Never thought I'll find news like this dull one day... I can't believe it.  :-D

I totally agree. You clearly have a greater boredom threshold than me because I was thinking this some months back.

Problem is this is not (AFAIK) centrally co-ordinated - if it was then sparser propaganda with more content would have greater impact.
Hate figure.

To be honest, I'd like to see even more boring articles, with even more companies. :-)

What about setting this as a standard for every dealer/manufacturer?

LOL

If attending minority interest shows had a cost effective ROI for every company they would still do it. Since the early 80s Ive heard people complain that "computer/usergroup shows aren't worth it anymore".

Genesi has a particular reason for doing this - it knows it has to do demonstrably what AInc is not in order to keep/maintain the mindshare of the 600 and whatever the remaining portion is for a foothold for future products like Pegasos II. Sure the Amiga community is small potatoes but it is a potential secure base from which to build.

In order to launch yourself into the big time you need to start small and build a vocal and loyal userbase. Pander to their vanities and fulfil as many of their needs as possible. You can do that less over time as you get bigger because you will have already have "bought" the advocates with your ealier customer service. This is nothing new - this is how village stores start, build up and grow into chains.

Problem Amiga Inc had was that there was the wrong things in the store for the local community in the first place ( DE/Anywhere ), Genesi has not made the same mistake so far.

Watch for the point where the ROI of small shows/usergroup attendance starts to diminish to nothing - it will be visible through a market reduction in attendance to allow Genesi to "focus on the business".

All part of lifes rich pattern.  :-)

Problem with the Amiga community is the seemingly large percentage of total idiots who would not be able to relate on a normal level with the kind of userbase Genesi will need to go onto next. These may have been shed by the need to actually part with money to buy a product. Maybe.

If not they will need to be educated by their peers sharpish.
Hate figure.

For the record, should Amiga Inc actually say they were going to any show, I would post it here, as it would really be news... :)

@redrumloa

I don't understand how you come to such a conclusion. Acknowledging the business motiviations and realities is not the same as saying they are sinister or bad.

In the American english language I learned the words pander and vanity and are usually negative terms. Put together that's like saying "Lure the fat slob with a chocolate bar" :-P

LOL!

Well if you had an enforced chocolate free diet for 9 years and you were a fat slob and someone offered you loads of chocolate maybe it is apt ;-)
Hate figure.
