I doubt it will lead to Windows only x86.  I think the most it will lead to is Windows support for BIOS setting changing, which, if done in the usual Microsoft style, will lead to even more viruses packed with the latest features.  Like zapping the BIOS.

The other possibility is that it's for Palladium, if that ever comes to fruition.

On the bright side, if Microsoft manage to get x86 PCs to be Windows only via Palladium or playing around with the bios, PPC suddenly becomes a lot more palatable.

if this is really going to happen I will no longer buy motherboards with a phoenix bios's or any other bios that latches to the microsoft operating systems in any way or for any purpose what so ever.
There was a time I can remember computers were fun...I miss my A1200.

you are just ignorant, you will succumb to william gates, like it or not. GET OVER IT. Stop whining about how your not gonna do this, or not gonna do that. Microsoft is here to stay, and so deeply imbedded in our daily lives, we will have no other choices. And if we do have other choices, they will be inferior to the microsoft options.

now sit down, good boy. :-o
