MainActor Broadcast
« on: October 04, 2003, 08:38:29 AM »
Can anyone give me more information about this program, what it was able to do, etc?
I read somewhere online that this program supported the Quicktime codec, but as far as I can tell it does not (at least not the demo version available on Aminet).

Is this a program that can load a video file, and convert it into another animation format?

Was MainActor Pro any different?

Is there anywhere I can get more information - I am curious, even if these programs are not available anymore.

Thanks.

Hi,

MainActor is a nice program, but what about Wildfire 7 ? It is much more up to date. You can convert animations and you can make great effects and transitions.

You can find informations at:
http://www.wk-artworks.de/

and you can order it at
http://www.amigaplus.de

I've used MainActorBroadcast a fair bit and I can honestly say I think it's the best the Amiga has available for producing animations with a sampled sound track.

The MainActor demo on Aminet is not the 'Broadcast' version, but the earlier v1.1 I believe. [Edit: It's 1.55] I've not heard of a 'Pro' version.

MAB supports AVI, FLI, FLC and BMP formats in addition to the native Amiga ones. I see no reason why you couldn't load in one format and save out as another (within the limited range provided).

I doubt you'll find much info on the Amiga versions at Main Concept. They no longer support the Amiga and it's long time since advertised the fact.

I've placed a few MAB animations on my site if you're interested.

Cheers,

JaX
