because 3D shooters are everywhere and everyone is even more bored of them than the Settler type games.

In your eyes yes in business games sell hardware and people will go out and shell out money on hardware just to play x game,

Look at how many people buy x86 hardware just to play games, incredible,

Without killer games/programs the Amiga and MorphOS will just be aimed at the die hard Amigans.

because Pegasos/A1 don't have the power to play a "modern" 3D shooter

Just a thought. On my AMD 900 with a paltry 128mb and an ATI 9000 PRo 64mb, I can run  the follwing, without any slowdown,  quite well:

MOHAA (including Spearhead)
Battlefield 1942
Hitman 2
Jedi Outcast

But I guess your talking about the next generation of 3d shooters like Doom III  :-) .

Cheers

@Paul_Gadd
Do you have ANY idea how much making all new and up-to date 3D  game would cost? (1Million USD ain't much these days)  There is NO hope on making profit even to PC-Linux or Mac user bases, even less on minimal marginal groups like Amigaone and Pegasos owners.

Sorry, there are only 3-4 platforms these days that are big enough for risking such much $$$, and those are big game-consoles and Windowse-PC.  And even with those, not all games make it.

So it's not only technical issues, like lack of 3D drivers to latest cards and lower CPU speeds, but economical too. 3D Drivers can be made (and OS4 can appear) sometime soon but having enough users/purchasers for games takes a lot more time.

But you are right about fresh blood. Someone  have to start making new games, and if they can't be comparable on production costs, they have to b better on other merits..

I was, hence the quotes around modern. ;-)

That's the truth, there are people who will never be happy about what the Amiga can do, even if miracles are squeezed out of it. They'll just look at newer PC games and demand "Why can't we do that?"

Very nice game! I love strategy games :-)
It is simple they made it for MorphOS because it exists, AmigaOS doesn`t yet, so we must wait until it is finished. Why you guys get angry if someone developes a game for MorphOS? Will you get angry if they made it available also for Linux? Or is it because it is an Amiga-like OS?
These guys developed games (and they will continue doing it) for us all these years, so show a little respect instead of saying that this is crap (without playing it) or they should make a 3d-shooter etc...

BTW: I`m pro AmigaOS 4.0 :-) but not a MorphOS hater.

@JoannaK

You know what i mean, all it takes is that 1 certain piece of software to get loads of people to the platform,

MorphOS/AOS4 needs something to get the machines out of the aimed at Amiga users only lime light.

paul_gadd, even licencing ports costs a lot of money - the more successful the port, the more unlikely we'll see one for the Amiga. Look at Shogo and Heretic2 - good enough games but flops on the PC, so easy to get ported.

Games like that aren't going to make people suddenly sit up and take notice of the A1 or Pegasos. I think you were right when you said they were aimed at Amiga die-hards...because, honestly, its unrealistic to aim them at anything else.

Absolutely right KennyR. Basically why we will never see Half-Life and the hundred mods for it (> best being  Day of Defeat) on OS4 or for that matter  MorphOS.  Heck not even the Mac could get a port of HalfLife :-( .

I wouldn't gloat - MOS looks like it's heading for the same fate.

Well,, IMHO it's too early to tell where this all goes in the long run. Personally I belive more to MOS/Pegasos future than to OS4/Aone but I have no money spend to them yet. Only investment has been time spend on getting familiar with products and that's not too much.

You are so right.  Oh no!  I'm agreeing with Paul Gadd... What's happening here.  But you are correct!  Amiga needs at least one strong title like Unreal Tournament 2003 or along that line to have a good showing and get peoples interest outside of the existing Amiga users.

Why does it say "Amiga-MorphOS" ?
Maybe because Titan hopes it will run on Phase5-PPC once
a new version of MorphOS is released for these.

Why no WOS ? Because everybody knows that WOS is dying and
investing a single $ in such a port is futile.

Why no OS4 ? Nobody said that there won't be an OS4-version,
but as long as Titan (and epic) don't have a beta of it
they have no way of telling for sure.

Also:
Sales of WOS/mulitplattform games have been very bad in the last
time. Software-Tycoon, Feeble Files, Tales of Tamar and probraly
even Quatsch2 are deep in 3-digit land  :-(

So a fresh start is the only hope and atm MorphOS is the
only possible target.

I also think we had far more than enough 3D-shooters (boring)
and are in need of some more intellegent games.

K&M is preordered and I might also buy this (evenso I allready
have the Win-version).

2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

"MorphOS 1.0 (for AmigaOS 4.0 no details available)"

Copy from the Requirements page. There will be AOS4 version, when it will be available.

This blind hate towards MOS is what will kill it. Just as it killed PUP. Well, now it turns out, a few features of PUP were better and will be used in both MOS/AOS4 (gcc compiler, elf format, scheduler etc.)

Now that's why I say OS4 will be superior. Never the less, I'm going to buy it for MOS, but I have no illusions. :-)

I wholeheartedly agree with warface...

Why so much animosity toward MOS (or OS4) ? There's absolutely no reason ! Games made for MOS will be easy to port to OS4, so it's a good thing developers can begin coding already.

Please, there's no camp ! Thinking in terms of camps is what will kill our community. There will be two products. We will see what they're worth and make a choice, period. We can even support both !

I'll order K&M and I buy all amiga games (which work on MOS), so I support the amiga in general !

Why does this myth still persist? I mean, I am not necessarily a MorphOS fan, but supposedly they are releasing a MorphOS enivornment for Macs....where the MorphOS environment is hidden from the user.

In plain english, you develop for morphOS you have developed a Mac version too.

=much bigger market than trying to support OS4.

how do you make that out no one is stupid enough to buy the crapy apple macs there all looks and no balls  if morph os comes to the mac they will still only sell 5 copies
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

Who said that they would sell MorphOS for Macs ?
What they are planning is some sort of hosted MOS that will
come with the game one (or more) of the millions of Mac-owners
has just bought, and the game will just run ion that hosted MOS
maybe without even being noticed by the costumer.

/me is still hoping they'll do a stand-alone MOS for the iBook.

Hey, that sounds like a familiar business plan... ;-)

Seriously, though. I believe developments like this ar e indeed very good for the entire extended Amiga community. We should embrace and appreciate them - and if the game is any good and you want it, do buy it...
