MakeCD now supports Joliet and HFS formats
« on: January 18, 2003, 02:07:06 PM »
MakeCD 3.2d beta 10 and makecdromfs.module 45.8 with Joliet and HFS support are publicly available.

Click the "Read More..." link for more information.

V3.2 has several new features and improvements. Some of them are:
   - JVC/Teac DAO
   - novice GUI mode
   - AIFF-CD file export/import for data interchange with audio editing software
   - enhanced audio handling: automatic conversion mono/stereo, 8/16 bit, frequency resampling
   - reading of AIFF, AIFC, AIFF-CD, MAUD, WAV, MPEG-A (mpega.library is required for that) in 8/16 bit, mono/stereo, any frequency and Samplitude HDP in mono/stereo (44.1kHz only)
   - writing of AIFF, AIFC, AIFF-CD, MAUD, WAV (type selection with file name suffix)
   - direct access to CopyCD from Workbench
V3.2a/b/c are mostly maintance versions with bug fixes and support for new drives. V3.2d adds support for ATAPI DAO (aka raw writing aka "mode select fails in DAO") and Burn Proof. Support for foreign images (.bin/.cue and .bin/.toc) was added, so that VideoCDs can be created with the help of VCDGear (Amiga version). These public betas are as stable as the last official release, they have simply never been wrapped up as a complete archive.

See history and features for details. And here is the MakeCD 3.2c archive. The English documentation for MakeCD 3.2b is not quite finished, but we have included an intermediate version.

The archive of the tenth public beta of 3.2d only contains new binaries. You still need V3.2c for a full installation. Beta 10 adds support for new Yamaha drives.

If you replace your V11.3 version with the new makecdromfs.module V45.8, then MakeCD 3.2 beta 10 also allows you to write Joliet and HFS tracks. This module also supports a better, extended file list format - see the readme that is included with the new module. It is brought to you by Heinz Wrobel, who should be contacted regarding all problems with the makecdromfs.module. This is the second public beta of this module; the first one produced invalid images in some cases. It still may have unknown problems, so beware.

Nice SW, but horrible user-interface !!

The amount of clicks and clacks needed if you just want to burn
some file to a CD is way too high.

Something like the "Easy-CD-Creator" I use when on the Winbox is
much better.

Just drag the files into the exploder-window, click "burn", wait,
and that is your brand new CD !!

@Balti
I agree, also those pop-ups that appear every time you move your mouse over a button are very annoying. I would rather have a nice Help system that would allow me to look at it sepratly if i didn't know what a button done.

I was unable to make a CD as I couldn't work out how!

Come on guys, RTFM! You can virtually do anything with MakeCD, you are not restricted to a simply and stupid and typical Windows burner. When I want burn data discs on a pc, I usually download a demo of Nero, which has some features at least.
