Although this game has great gameplay, I can't see it doing anything in the PC world simply because the graphics are VERY sub-standard!

Even looking at the latest PC screenshots on the Apex site, the graphics of the vehicles are absolutely terrible!

Granted, the buildings are looking nicER, and the special effects like lens flares and gourand shading look superb but they seriously need someone to draw some better vehicles and textures!

Look at the posts about the MAC version and almost everyone puts the game down because of the graphics!

i have to agree that payback won't make a great impact on the PC world as the gfx are not upto challenging games like GTA3 and other variants. :-(

Payback is able to run on <2 GHz machines though.
It runs nicely on my 500MHz iBook.

Grand Theft Auto is sluggish on PS2 (I almost feel nauseous after playing it for a while) and the Windows version needs one hell of a machine to play it with respectable framerates.

Personally I don't buy the fancy new Mac games for my iBook, but instead play the new ones that run well on my hardware such as Bejeweled, Escape Velocity: Nova, Payback and so on.

There is a market for this sort of thing. The whiners are usually not the ones who pay for their stuff anyway (at least in my experience).

Remember that some of the best-selling games are hunting simulators and card-games.

heh this game....Loved by many..hated by more... now goes pc... well pictures looks like the warp3d version,and i can only wish em luck on sales, (should sell more than amiga version anyway).

for the tcpip thing on amiga...well that would also make it sell more on amiga, makes perfect sense doesnt it?, make servers for this and do as Tales Of Tamar (eternity) did ....
then only BUyed orginals will work...

i hope we get multiplayer over lan/tcpip....

Hmm... nitpicking perhaps, but I don't think I have heard one
single declaration of "hate" towards Payback ever. Some
might complain about gfx not being completely up to multi-
million dollar productions, but overall everyone seems overwhelmingly
positive.

I would say that James has done a good job, just compare his "team" (are there anyone else?) with the super-size production staff behind GTA3 or something.

Would you put 3-4 years into Amiga game?
