DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
« on: September 30, 2003, 10:56:42 PM »
Anybody using one of these on an Amiga?  Any suggestions.  I did find an IDE/ATAPI Plextor model which looks nice.  But, none of the burner compatibility lists mention any combo drives.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

It should work as at least a CD/RW drive. The DVD side wont work unless you have one of the Elbox IDE adapters. As far as I know its the only one that supports DVD.

The Lite-On series are good. I have a 48x24x48 CD-R/RW/etc on my 4000. It won't burn DVDs, though.

The only complaint I have is that it's IDE, not SCSI. The IDE support in the 4000 ROM is not as up-to-date as SCSI support. You will need IDE-fix from Aminet (which has ATAPI support) to run it, unless you have OS4.0.

It can supposedly burn CD-RWs and CD-Rs using MakeCD or BurnIt or FryingPan. I haven't tried any of them. CD-R/RW support is built in to OS4.
