Nokia v Microsoft -The fight for digital dominance

The Economist is running a cover article on the next great battle of the computing age, and one that may be even more far-reaching than the PC war: the truly personal computer, the so-called smart phone.

@the_editor

Are you joking, or simply delusional?  Amiga is a fleck of matter on the windscreen of life.  At best, it made a small thump sound as it hit at 70 miles per hour.

After I read article, I thought back to the 80's when PC were being sold.  I remember that MS did not have the market wrapped up.  In fact Apple was doing pretty good.  Apple was know for having a easier system to use.  The article pointed out that MS is behind Nokia in this new moblie phone era.  Humm, MS has been there before.  It may not happen in the next year or two, but give it ten years.  I think MS big push will be software, just like before.  Get the software into companies, then the home user will follow.  Heck, we were told this week that we will no longer be allow to use Word Perfect.  Word will be what we all use from now on!  MS didn't push Word Perfect out in a year, but over the long haul, Word Perfect is now gone from my work place.

With all that said, if Amiga can hang in for the long haul, maybe, just maybe they will be there when the dust settle on the new moblie phones?
