A lousy design then, and a lousy design today.

That tower design looks as much as a trashbin as the small one looks like a vacuum cleaner, yuck, yuck, yuck.

Man!  As Jesus said, "There's no pleasing some people!"

This is a real nice blast from the past, and perhaps into the future?  The accompanying text indicated that some folks had licensed the design and might release it!  Okay, the Macs have it all over everyone else in the land of swift and sexy computer design, but thinking back to those heady Escom days (the first to take up the Amiga after C= went tits-up), I can't help but treasure the memories of first seeing that clunky, chunky S.O.B.!  And remember that the case itself was supposed to be expandible?  Adding layers to raise it from Darth Vader's hatbox to a tower configuration.  Maybe not the coolest thing in the world, but man alive, if only Escom hadn't overstretched itself!

I actually quite like the Walker. Unlike todays PC cases which are basically elongated cubes (some very pretty elongated cubes, but cubes non the less), the Walker does something different.

OK maybe it is a bit too different for most people, but to be honest I would rather have an AmigaONE in one of those cases then a standard STX case. Why? Because the when people look at it they won't see a WindowsPC, they will go "WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?" (ok maybe not shouting ;-)).

I think it is also rather cute, have the smaller one sitting next to my monitor. I don't really need to have a PC with 3-4x5.25" bays and 3-4x3.5" bays. All I need is a Floppy (or Iomega zip drive), a hard disk and a CD-RW.

Still, I will now go and drink my cup of arsenic :-D

Is there someone who will produce these Walker-cases? I'd be very interested in buying one and throwing the AOne in to it!
How about forcing someone to produce it! A gun to someones head can do miracles :-D :ak47:

@jaokim

The only problem is the fact that the A1 is an full ATX style motherboard. I think that it maybe too big to fit into the small desktop models, but should be fine for the "tower" version.

I would love to see the A1 in the uATX style (like the Peg is), that could then fit into the standard Walker case.

Yes, I know... I've been surfing around desperatly trying to find the smallest standard ATX-case, only to find large ugly minitowers... I want the Walker...!  :cry: :boohoo:
If you toss the PSU out of an small ATX-case, did some serious cutdowns to it, bending it in to shape, maybe you could create your own Walker..? :hammer:

Well, Thendic has shown it working in the BeOS show, with OS3.2 (a special, patched 3.1 afaik).

I would like to have the walker case too, but I think the design of it would be difficult to adapt to a uATX case let alone a full blown ATX case!

The problem is that Thendic own the rights to it (if I read the page correctly) so while they may make a uATX one for the Peg, I doubt that unless they let people buy it on its own and Eyetech make a uATX A1 board we won't be having an AmigaONE Walker  :boohoo:
