New OctaMED SoundStudio V2 In development
« on: August 02, 2002, 02:30:15 AM »
New OctaMED SoundStudio V2
Currently a NEW Amiga version 2 of OctaMED SoundStudio is slowly being developed.

However, the new authors require input from potential users so they know that all there work is going to be worthwhile.

On top of this, they also need help, below is a message from Joern at Katodev

*From:* joern octamed@katodev.de

I'm currently spending much energy in getting back a powerfull team. No question, the same thing that happened to the user base has happened to the developers. People are leaving the Amiga...

grrr...I was hoping to read some news on further progress.  An OSSv2 early non functional beta has been around for over 2 years now and I have been hungering for an updated OctaMED as it probably in my opinion the best Music software on ANY platform for tracking and MIDI composition.  I am a registered user of OSS for the PC, but I have hardly touched it and stand by my trusty Amiga for serious work.

Makes me wish I knew how to code....

If they don't want to support OS4, then what are they going to support? Only old 68K or what?

Sounds crazy to me..!

Well, I think this is pretty cool even if it wasn't catered to OS4.

Unfortunately this news is so old that when it was written, OS4 hadn't even been announced properly. There is, to my knowledge, zero work being done on V2, nor has there been for a very long time. Anyone on the OctaMED mailing list will confirm this.

Sorry guys, the news poster meant well but I'm afraid he's way off the mark - and I'm as disappointed as anyone.

OctaMED is the *only* reason I still have an Amiga.

Robert.

Your right here. I've mailed Katodev a few times, but I never *ever* got a reply back.

In which case the only way this will be developed for NG Amigas is if RBF see a reformed user base & viable market, like every other delevoper I can think of...  :-(

I admit I occasionally do get a 'lemon' once in a while. :-?

I should really stick to stuff I have more knowledge about.   ;-)

If its any consolation, For those of you that didn't know, Version V1.03c  is freeware and is available for download with its Amigaguide Manual here at at Amiga Org. Check the downloads section under Audio Tools.

I would love to see the new OSS very much  for both classic and OS4.  I have worked on so many projects with OSS, I just can't leave it alone.  Others are cool, but I can't imagine without the great tools it offers!
