Subject: Amiga club membership
Just a short note to those who have asked if we will be taking orders for Amiga's clib membership and voucher scheme.
We are fully behind the Amiga Inc membership scheme and think in the form it was conceived (payments direct to Amiga - material straight from Amiga) it will represent good value for money to the end purchaser.
However we've talked through the actual logistics of taking payments in UKP/euro and converting to USD to send to Amiga, the complications of probably having to charge and pay UK VAT, and the potential problems of exchange rate movements between issuing and redemption of the voucher part. When you add in bank charges and our own costs, and the fact that it is only a very short period promotion we really don't think it is viable or sensible for us to take memberships subscriptions on Amiga's behalf.
That means if you have been holding on anticipating that you would buy your membership from us - don't delay any more. Order it directly from Amiga Inc using a credit card, or by bank transfer, or by purchasing and sending an international money order from your post office.
Thanks for your understanding.

There are still a few issues to be finalised but these are relatively easy to sort out (because all the fund transfers will be in 'bulk' and therefore the charges will be minimal in proportion to the funds transferred). We (and other dealers) will credit whatever value we receive from Amiga against the board purchase. But if it costs you 65p for a 1 USD today and that USD only buys you/us 60p at the time your A1 is shipped then that (60p) is what will be credited. However if it buys 80p you win! as the dollar is quite weak at the moment it is more likely IMO that you will win rather than loose, but the exchange rate (as with many other things in life) can go up as well as down!
