@Skyraker

You're a loon, even if you were drunk when you wrote that.

Look, I may be a cynic when it comes to Hyperion, Eyetech, Amiga Inc and even Genesi, but I have no influence whatsoever on their chances of success or failure. Nothing I, or anyone else here, will say will make any difference when it comes to the final reckoning.

What will destroy your dreams or not will be products, or the lack of them. Nothing else. If your dreams fail to materialise, then you need to point the finger at those who failed to deliver and  no one else.

If you're so worried about the success of the companies you rely on to deliver your dreams, why don't you dig into your own pocket and donate them as much money as you can, even if you've already done so once of twice?

But they have produced things related to an OS. Email them now and get the OS4 compilers and documentation.
And if you look at what has been shown on various shows, I don't think you can say that Hyperion is bad. It's not like OS4 is dreamed up in some fantasyland, you know. Alot of people is using it daily in their betatesting process. They see the progress, they know it's not empty words.

If missed deadlines makes a company "bad" then.. 80% of the software producing companies are bad too. (or something like that).

These are interesting times we live in. New machines in progress, new AmigaOS in progress.. userbase slowly, slowly growing..  which is a success in itself.

The trouble with it is that the actual source of the sniping is to be found at the head of the companies involved, on all sides. If those people, who should show more responsibility, were to concern themselves solely with their own products and not comment on the products or fortunes of others, then the fanatical sections of the various camps would have less fuel and support for their flame and rumour wars.

The only thing I have against Amiga Inc is the continual stupid outright lies being told by Barry and his ilk. There's even outright evidence of Barry's disregard for the community on the other site where Barry claims they were "scheduled" to move servers -- then went into the schpeel about how it was being done on his brother-in-law's wedding day -- when obviously it was nothing more than a lie as even Ray Akey pointed out. why does "Fleecy" feel the need to lie about EVERY SINGLE THING???

Yea, what's up with that? What would have been wrong with a "Probably a server move." statement rather than having to construct a more elaborate than needed LIE to appease the serfs?

It's this sort of thing that has repeatedly blown Fleecy's credibility to smithereens!!!

Ray keeps going on in that thread how Fleecy just made an assumption. Well, DUH. That part's bleeding OBVIOUS, but the point is he LIED to back up his assumption, and was caught red-handed when his assumption turned out to be wrong.

We now know that anything Fleecy says in response to trouble can be 1) an assumption, completely pulled from a hat, and completely wrong, and 2) an outright LIE in an effort of damage control. ... or 3) both.

And these people expect us to "trust" they are doing OK in absence of any positive evidence?? You can take that "trust" and stick it back up where Fleecy pulls his "assumptions" from. Nothing is more insulting than a lie.

It really does crack me up.

Well, you can't really include AInc here - not for the last
year or so anyway. While Hyperion and Genesi heads have
had their share of flame instillment, the high heads of AInc
have pretty much kept out of the way (I'm sure some of
you will be quick to give a sarcastic reason for this, but as
far as I can see, whatever the reason, this is currently
the case). Also, no matter what your opinion is of fleecy,
the content of his answers and of the bi-weekly Q&A in
general, you can at least not blame the man for posting
inflammable material concerning the competition in these
Q&As. Even direct questions about the competition (in
earlier Q&As) have been handled and answered in a
non-agressive way. Even if some of his other optimistic
predictions sometimes ring a little stale to me - in this
particular area, fleecy excells.

This wasn't always so, I know. But at least in the
flame-fest starting department AInc seem to have learned
their lesson.
Thinking about it, the senior Genesi staff also seem
to have cooled lately. Perhaps they've learned that
lesson as well, albeit late. Good on them, in that case.

@SlimJim

Just to elaborate slightly: there is no difference between making inflammatory remarks in public and making them in private to individuals who you know will then carry the fight into the public arena.

There are numeous ways to stir the sh*t and Amiga Inc are as guilty of doing it as anyone else.

I cannot really comment on it since I haven't seen it.

... But if you are right, that would at least put AInc among
the elite shrewd flame-instillers ...  Always something to
brag about. ;-)
