hi
I asked Gary that if this promotion is for  an A1 mainboard  with AOS 4.0 CD bundle? Or complete A1 system (with hd,cdrom,ram,... etc)?  :-?

He answered :

This is for a pre-order of the AmigaOne "system" with OS4.0 already loaded on the hard drive for you. This coupon will be taken by all online AmigaOne dealers.

Sincerely,
Gary

Wouldn't it be funny if someone bought the coupon, thinking it was for the bundle.  :-P

Ouch!

I bet at least of few of the coupon buyers were hoping to buy the mainboard and OS4 and build their own system.

Ok. My money is on hold now.

I do not even know what the MB+OS+HDD+... packet costs or contains...

I'll buy the motherboard+OS and build the thing by myself (I already have 60Gb HDD etc... for it).

well... I just bought a pickup truck, so I have other use for that $50 anyways... ;)

Uh oh...looks like sales pitch at it's best. Those that failed to read the 'fine print' are suckered.
Maybe there are some dealers that'll be sympathetic to those not buying a complete system & honor the coupon anyway. Fingers crossed. Come to think of it, that might pull sales from one vendor unwilling to budge to one that will. Hmmm...interesting.

Some questions come to mind:

- What constitutes a "system"?
- What does it come with?
- Why are Amiga Inc trying to be so sneaky about this one...?

$50 off of a complete system is SO incredibly NOT a good deal, as the vendor can easily make up $50 in profit between other items that you either didn't want, or didn't need.

I feel really bad for those who didn't read between the usually unmistakable lines on this one...

IMO people should be able to use the coupon both for bundles as well as complete systems. I can understand it if some  people mis-understood Bill's message. No big deal however, considering that consumer AmigaOne boards are not available yet. So there is enough time left to solve this issue.

I think some PR damage repair needs to be done on this one before people get disillusioned.

Maybe they could limit the specification of a system to just a hard drive with OS4 Pre-installed.

Didn't Amiga inc hire some new marketing people recently?

They had better get to work then because I want to build my own A1

If I was a reseller I would build a system,  price it (including my profit) and then add an extra $50 dollars on top just to honour those coupons.

Not specifying the upper price limit of the discounted system is a mistake.

Hmm, I was definitely thinking it was for a board only. Now what is the difference between a board only and a complete system? More than $50? If so, I'll sacrifice the $50 and just buy a board, thanks all the same.

Ahh, I see. I'm glad that I didn't rush into this then. I want to build my own system.

calm down guys.

Pay attention what`s written on the AmigaShop page. They differ between "AmigaONE/AmigaOS4 preloaded" and "AmigaONE/AmigaOS4 Systems". So i guess the ones just with a HD and the other one is a complete System. Don`t U?

Maybe, but it still allows OEMs to make up the discount by charging a premium for the preloaded hard drives. There is no way the buyer knows that he's not just paying that premium in advance.

I agree with the others who call for watertight clarification on the conditions. This sort of potential for misunderstanding has plagued Amiga Inc throughout recent years, and the PR damage done is immeasurable.

Umm, the dealers don't have to "make up" the discount, the discount is from A-Inc.

Of course people are right on the front that with the pre-loaded OS there will be some $$ added on to the price due to man hours of pre-loading the OS

It is a good opportunity for some dealer who will sell the motherboards, and give out a discount though!

OK, for the first time I am slightly annoyied at Amiga. Yes maybe I
should have read what was said a bit closer (as Wayne pointed out!),
but the main message was the fact that they wanted to find out "how
many boards to order". So at the end of the day, I, like most people,
thought it would be for the board and OS4 bundle.

Not happy, not happy at all.

Still, if it is upto the vedors then they could just honor the
discount just for the board and OS4?

JS :-x

Oh and just got my mail returned from websales@amiga.com saying
"spammers not allowed"!!! HUH?! :-x :-x

Nice...Amigan email shunned off from Amiga Inc as spam mail. Now there's a way to build your client base!! What's the matter...that shotgun hole in your foot ain't big enough?!
