clickBOOM to re-release "Wings" of Cinemaware
« on: May 09, 2002, 08:19:06 PM »
Clickboom will develop a 'digitally remastered' version of the classic Cinemaware game 'Wings':

"Relive the action, glory and seat of the pants daring of a WWI Allied fighter pilot! You'll strafe Hun armies, bomb enemy aerodromes and match wits against deadly Aces in heart stopping dogfights, the loser going down in flames... without a parachute!
Platforms: PC/Mac
ETA: Q2/02 "

Nice news but I say it too, no Amiga version? I prefer the GameBoy Advance version. They should do an OS4 version. Wings is my favourite game. Played it for hours and hours.

Clickboom still develop for the Amiga, but they don't seem to have a license from cinemaware to make a new wings version for the Ami..

Not so long ago I had contact with Cinemaware and they told me that there are no plans for making stuff for AmigaOS4 or DE. But they also said that if it is attractive in the future they might do something.

Hmm, lords of the rising sun is also up for a remake, are Clickboom handling this too perhaps,  nice stuff...

Eeh, just hoping the other games that are about to be revealed not include Rocket Ranger and It came from the desert, not that i dont want them, cause i really do, but it would be kind of boring with all this 'secracy' if it all turns out to be games that cinemaware mentioned last month.

If you look at the Clickboom site you can see the games presented being separated into two columns. One grey and one red. Apparently all the games in the red column are AMiGA games, whereas the new one being 666. In the grey column, however, there are 3 more games to be relevealed, and according to me all these are porbably non-AMiGA games, with Wings already following that theory.
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

Wings has always been one of my favorits :o)
I hope it will be made for AmigaOS4-5!!!
Maybe ClickBoom didn't get the license because Cinemaware want to make the Amiga version themself }:o)
Best regards,

Clickboom and Cinemware obviously have no loyalty to the Amiga community. I suggest a boycott.

And please why did they pick Wings to do a remaster of? That has to be among the worst Cinemaware games. Why not Sinbad or similar?

Yeah, let's boycott them and then they'll be sure to get the message and return!

I think some of the great games which made the Amiga should be updated and released for OS 4. That would be a good cause to get an Amiga One. People still remembers the games they played before the Amiga was forgotten. The gameplay is still great but the graphics (and sound) must be upgraded to make them attractive to todays computer users.

As always, the anon posters are the most inflamatory.  What are y'all afraid of, anyway? :-?

Let's face it, clickBOOM is trying to stay alive as a company and they can't still do that and be Amiga only, or even entirely Amiga inclusive.  I'm sure they're still Amigans up in the Great White North, otherwise why would they be bringing the great games of the Amiga's past into the 21st century?  And we ALL know there are tons of Amiga ex-pats who'll snap up upgraded versions of their old favorites that'll run on their current systems.  It's a sensible move for them and anyone who'se giving them hell for it has been blinded by their fanaticism.  If you want clickBOOM to port these games to OS 4/AA/OS 5, they've got to survive as a business NOW so they can still be there when it's economically feasible to do those ports.
