AmigaOS 3.1
« on: September 24, 2003, 10:49:16 PM »
I have an AmigaOne computer system running OS 3.1 over UAE and would like to know how to install AmigaOS 3.9 from my AmigaOS XL CD?

Easy to install, but you will have to do some tailoring yourself, since the OS that's on the CD is meant for operation with QNX and has lots of special stuff built in. You will need a working system (like your 3.1) running to edit your 3.9 and make it bootable. It won't boot out of the box. You will have to edit the S-S and remove some QNX-centric utilities.

Best idea is to start with a clean partition and install 3.9 onto that, using your 3.1 system. Then, when you have the 3.9 system ready to try, you can boot that partition, find problems, go back to the 3.1 partition to get editors to fix them, etc.

The only other problem is that the OS 3.9 on that CD only has BB1 installed (I think). You will have to get BB2 from H&P's website and install it after you've got the rest going. It's also an early version of 3.9 - there was a later version released a year later on the 3.9 CDs of a different colour.

You will find OS3.9 in its entire loadable form in CD:OS-Version3.9.

Have fun.
