Tao's Intent now available for T.I.'s OMAP Devices
« on: March 26, 2002, 12:16:51 AM »
San Francisco (March 25, 2002) - To meet the demands for its technology from blue chip consumer electronics manufacturers and global telecommunication carriers, Tao Group has made its intent, best-in-class multimedia rngine, available on TI's OMAP(TM) application processors.

intent is the core software for the Open Contents Platform Association (www.ocpa.jp), which was formed in 2001 to enable the mobile and home client device market to develop premium contents based around a single
software platform. The association now has more than sixty member companies including corporations such as Toyota, Sony, Sharp, Kyocera, Samsung, Epson, JVC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Pioneer, Sanyo, Sega, Bandai, Taito and Capcom.

The intent platform includes high performance, small footprint, world-leading sound and graphics engines that are independent of
hardware, operating system and language. It includes support for PersonalJava 1.2, CLDC with MIDP and an entire roadmap of Java
technologies to meet the expectations of manufacturers of phones, PDAs, in-car systems, games consoles, digital cameras, web tablets, set top boxes and digital televisions.

"The increasing popularity of Tao's intent platform in consumer and enterprise devices demonstrates that Java technology is an ideal
multimedia solution for next-generation devices," said Francis Charig, Executive Chairman of Tao. "By running intent on TI's OMAP application processors, Tao will be able to penetrate the market further and meet
the growing demand for Java technology on 2.5G and 3G devices."

Media solutions for mobile devices today are unable to deliver the kind of performance needed by carriers to deliver multimedia content to consumers. Tao's intent platform solves this dilemma by delivering Java content up to 10 times faster than competing technologies, enabling operators to deliver rich multimedia Java services across wireless networks for the first time.

"TI is working with Tao to ensure that manufacturers using TI's high performance, low power OMAP processors to power their handheld devices can deliver compelling, next-generation Java content to consumers
without compromising performance or battery life," said Paul Werp, worldwide marketing manager for TI's OMAP platform. "TI's technology, when coupled with Tao's intent platform, will deliver a rich user experience and wide range of mobile service capabilities moving into 2.5 and 3G."

Great news!

TI is the market leader in TMS32 DSP (Digital Signal Processor) market. DSP are widely used in Cell Phone for GSM (MPEG ) support. TAO Group is one of the leading member of MPEG group.

TI also make ARM compatible CPU and SPARC CPU for SUN Microsystem.
