I need help.
« on: May 23, 2009, 05:47:02 PM »
Hi everyone. After about 18 years of my Amiga 500 being boxed up because I thought it was fried, I found it in my garage. It turns out it was just the power supply. Now I desperately want to play the games I used to love so much.
Well, through storage and moving, my 1084's monitor became damaged, and I am missing both Kickstart 1.2 and Workbench 1.2.
If anyone has a monitor in good shape, or a comparable/compatable monitor they wish to sell, let me know. I've been watching Ebay, and the only decent one has a bad power switch and has a buy it now price of $129.00 plus $30.00 to ship it. Is this a good price?

Also, anyone with the software for sale, let me know, as I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Just get a modern TFT tv/monitor.They have all the connectors for old computers. And you can hook up anything from spectrum, msx, amstrad to amiga and pc.Dont get 1084.They are expensive and you dont know how much they will last. With modern tv,you can do anything you want.

Hi ...

I think thats a high price for the monitor . I just bought a compatible Philips CM8802 monitor in perfect condition for 10 Euro from a carboot sale . Personally i wouldn't pay more than 30/40 euro for a decent monitor .

With regards to the workbench disks , i am sure if you search on ebay you will find as there are almost always some for sale .

I would check out carboot sales as ive bought Amiga hardware for next to nothing .

Good luck setting up your Amiga , i'm sure it will give you loads of fun again :)

Make sure it IS a TV and NOT a monitor as it won't work without a scandoubler/flickerfixer .

All you would need with a tv is an RF modulator which was included with a lot of A500's .

I live in Europe and i used to use a SCART TV and an Amiga RGB to Scart cable . I dont know what connectors of TV you have .

I have an lg monitor TV hd ready. It is a tv actually, but you can connect anything you want.It can sync to any resolution.Has scart connector on the back, and you can connect anything from spectrum, msx, amstrad, sony playstation etc.

It doesn't need a scandoubler.And works like a tv.

@nubbins

That $129 monitor is me and it is not a firm price, I am accepting offers. That monitor is near new, despite the switch. The case and picture it provides look new. I have a couple other monitors I could use to move that are more well worn.

If the other offers here don't pan out, feel free to PM or email me. I may be able to help.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Thanks for all of the responses so quickly. I am amazed at how popular these things still are.

I have read a bunch of stuff saying that even through RGB to SCART or RF Modulator/TV you lose picture quality, that's why I wanted a monitor, although you guys would know better than I would.

And REDRUMLOA, I am waiting for one person to get back to me.

I definately wouldn't be happy saving money on a monitor that didn't have a good picture. I'll let you know.

Thanks again everyone.
