Whoops - just noticed I'd posted this in 'Talk About':

Anyone here know anything about Pro Station Audio?

I'm stuck with the tutorial. I think the main reason I'm stuck is that
the layout in the version you download for MorphOS is different from
that in the tutorial, although it could possibly be the screen
resolution, which won't work at anything above 800 x 600.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Wilse

i wrote a couple review of PSA Titanium 5.05.

PSA requires at least a 1024 x 768 screen (8 bit is enough), even if a 1280x1024 or better lauched on 2 monitors should be the optimal setup.

AFAIK, the MOS Platinum Edition, has the same layout of the last PSA Titanium (the mixer needs more space that the Millenium version).

The tutorial was written for the 4.05 version but works even in the newest version.

Tell me what difficulties have you.

If you understand Italian, i can mail you my review with the first step.

Remember that PSA has a steep curve of learning.

Yes, it says this in the readme but if I attempt to launch it at anything above 800 x 600, all I get is a black screen. AFAIK, this is a bug in MOS1.4 (although I could be wrong) which hopefully will be fixed for 1.5

Having said that, now that I think about it, I don't know if I tried 8 bit. I'll try that tonight.

Well the layout is slightly different. If you look at this part of the tutorial:

You can see the area marked "1", in red, has symbols for headphones, a speaker and a padlock. On my version, this part of the screen appears to only have a little green radio button, for switching the track on and off.

It could be purely cosmetic but I stopped there. :-)

I've just contacted Audiolabs about MOS version.

As soon as Maurizio Ciccione will reply, i'll post the suggestions here.

Don't worry about the difference from the tutorial PSA layout and yours. (the tutorial was done with an old version of PSA).

Ignore that ancient small icons, and follow carefully the tutorial.

Then download the PDF Reference_manual and the User_manual, from Audiolabs site.

I managed to get through the problems in the first tutorial.
For instance, the plug ins were already there! D'oh!

The sticking point now is:

How do I change the screen resolution?
Now that I've saved the status, the programme opens without bringing
up the screen res. requester.
I can't find any reference to this in the settings menu or the manual.

Hi Wilse

You must enable the tooltype:

SHOW_SCR_SELECTOR

If not present, type it.

Mine are:

CLASSIC_COLORS     (that enables best colors IMHO)

ULTRA_WGFX    (even if in MOS version is enabled by default)

My suggestion, is to print the PDF user manual and learn the main shortcuts (i use only shortcuts)

Have you seen the Plugin GUIs? Very cool!

Try the Tube PreAmp plugin and let me know :-)

-edit- by the way, ULTRA_WGFX tooltype, enables only a higher grafic waveform in the Timeline, not the PSA screen, so don't worry.

Have you a tooltype named CGFX_DEPHT

Yes. The requester will no longer allow me to choose anything *other* than 8 bit, which is weird.
I'm sure it offered many more options before (8, 15, 16, 24).

No but I typed/added that line to the tooltypes and it did have a strange effect. Previously, when PSA loaded to a black screen, L-Amiga-M (well, L-windows key-M to be precise ;-)) would take me back to the ambient (wb) screen.
After typing CGFX_DEPHT, I can't get back and have to reboot.

Hi,
sorry to drag this up again but I still can't re-open a previously
saved project/session (not sure what the distinction is there either).

I created a session called 'test', plopped some wavs in the timeline,
saved it, quit and reloaded PSA.
If I try to open it as a project, it appears to load but has nothing
in the timeline, etc - i.e. it loads an apparently empty project.

If I try to open it as a session, I get "Accessing sessions outside
their drawer is not allowed".

What am I doing wrong here?

I don't use PSA at all, but I recall some discussion on the beta2 mailing list about saving/loading is not self explanatory, and how to do that.

Guess it helps little, if anything...
