MiniMig PCB Availability.
« on: May 12, 2009, 03:23:44 AM »
Are there any unpopulated minimig pcbs still available? And what's the status of Illuwatars Mini-ITX boards? If I remember correctly none of those were ever produced.

I ask, because I have a young nephew who is interested in doing an fpga project and I pointed him in the direction of the minimig. So, if anyone has any ideas on how to obtain a one for his project, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance. :-)

Ed.

Dave,

(I tried sending you a PM, but the system is responding that you aren't currently receiving them. So, I'm posting here in hopes you will see this. )

Any luck locating that spare board? It looks like my nephew is definitely interested in going forward with it. Let me know, otherwise I need to try and secure a spare board from someone else. Also, once again, a rough estimate on what you want for it would be helpful. :)

Thanks,
Ed.

@EDanaII

I believe Illuwater is checking for interest in a re-order of his Mini-ITX 2.0 Board.  I would just PM Illuwater if you want to go that route.  The link below has the discussion about this.

The Dawg

Mini-ITX 2.0 PCB Re-order
Amiga 4000T/60 - A2000/60 - 1200T/60, Soldered Up 3 x Minimig 1.1, Mac Mini 1.5 Running MacOSX/MOS 2.7-Registered

The 2.0 is a final design, fully debugged and proven. If it fails, then it is down to bad solder work or faulty parts.

Yes - there is a plan to do a re-order for the PCB's. I would prefer to not build complete units in large quantities by hand...

Yea, I realized your design was more complete after I first posted. I guess I shoulda fished around for more information before posting. :)

If you do another run of your Mini-ITX version, when might you do it? I only ask because time is relevant here. My nephew is taking the summer break from college, so this project is meant to keep him learning while he relaxes. If you produce some more boards in the next couple weeks, then great. If it's within the next couple months, not so great.

That said, I'm still waiting for some word from AmigaDave regarding his spare board...

Order will be done earlies next month (june), that means, next week from now. Then, it will take about 2 weeks until the boards arrive. A batch of 25 boards will be ordered (I don't think the interest is large enough to manufacture more boards feasable).

Whao! Cool!  I was just thinking about the minimig when I just etched my first pcb the other day, and now I check the forums here to find out there will be a pcb run!  Mega Cool!

I would like to put myself down for a board  (:

@ Illuwatar

Good to know. Depending on when AmigaDave gets back to me or what my nephew decides, I might sign up on that order. I'll get back to you before the end of the week.

I can't find my second board Ed, I hope it was not lifted from my table at AmiWest last year while I was displaying it.  I have not had the time to do a thorough search though, so I am still hoping to find it when I have more time to look everywhere.  As I am back to living in two places, it is harder than ever to keep track of everything.

It would probably be better to get one of Illuwatar's 2.0 version boards if he is doing another production run.

The boards are primary sold as bare PCB's. You have to find the parts yourself and put them in place. Planned price for a single PCB is €20 + shipping.

I could put together complete units, but as it is done by hand there will be an uncertain time plan and a price of €270. It is done entirely on my spare time and I don't have much of that thing. I also have to buy parts at end-user prices. Anyone having any tips for manufacturers that do small runs for a reasonable price?

@ AmigaDave

No worries, Dave and thanks for the feedback.

Since I didn't hear from you, I went ahead and requested a board from Illuwatar. Hopefully my nephew will learn from and enjoy this project.
