New Amiga convert!
« on: April 22, 2009, 02:45:21 AM »
Howdy,

I'm a long time C= 8bit user who is finally branching out into the Amiga realm.  I ran a C64 BBS back in the day and sadly I never had the time to get involved with the Amiga.  I've stayed an 8bit hobbyist over the years and always promised myself I would eventually branch out and even collected a couple of Amigas along the way.  With a nudge from several of friends I have now jumped in with both feet.

I used these forums for some great information research the past few weeks (thanks!) and finally decided to join in.  I probably know several of you here already from the 8bit side of things and yes... you won, I'm here :P.  Hopefully I will get up to speed on this end with your help and enjoy Amigas as much as I have my C64's.

Pell

Welcome, Pelleas! Well done for doubling (or possibly quadrupling) your bits! The C64 is an awesome machine, with some mega hacks - I am personally an all-round Commodore fan. I have Amigas and C64's, Commodore Calculators, a Commodore LCD watch, I even have a CBM 8032 with a 8050 dual disk drive and 4022 printer!

Have fun my friend...
Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 128MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1

Welcome to A.org Pell!  This is by far my favorite Amiga hangout and I have been here forever it seems.  I lurked here for years before becoming a member, then lurked more as a member before starting to post messages in these forums, but now they can't get me to shut up (though some wish I would).

All website forums have good and bad sides and members, but I think that this site has much more of the good stuff and you will enjoy participating with this group of crazy Amiga addicts.  Not having any experience with the 8bit computers, I can't relate to the C64 days, but I was rolling on the floor laughing when someone here welcomed you to the 1990's for your decision to find out more about the Amiga line of computers.

That is truly where the Amiga was at it's peak, and probably always will be most remembered for, as the improvement since then has been at a snails pace, but at least it has not stopped and could not be killed off, no matter how many companies have failed to revive it.

Always glad to see another new Amiga user, so again, welcome aboard and hope you stay a while.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

I switched from C64 to Amiga 500 in 1987.

So welcome to 1987  :-)

I loved both my C64s and my MSD Dual Disk Drive with the extra RAM chip but by 1987 the A500 was so cheap and so ridiculously powerful that I had to get one.

You should get out now while you still can, and save yourself a grand.

Hi ya', and welcome!

Guess many of us started out with ye olde' C=64,
I did at least. Still so in love with the SID-chip...
I believe you will learn to like the Amiga and it's latter OS's even more!

Best Regards!

Welcome!

My first computer was a Commodore 64. I had to sell it to fund the purchase of my Amiga 500 Plus though. I never regretted buying my 500+, but I did regret having to part with my C64. Fortunately I picked one up quite cheap a few years later. :)

Welcome!  You didn't mention how you've jumped in with both feet.  You bought a 500?  You tried UAE? You're looking for a deal?

Welcome!
I'm a CBM 8-bit veteran myself, only we had a plus4 in our house.  My sister had a 64 later on but by that time I had my Amiga 500.  Great days  :-D

Welcome, Pelleas!

I think most of us were Commodore 8bit users at some point.  I still love my 64C and SX-64, along with my stack of Amiga hardware.

You can never have too much Commodore equipment!
