WhichAmiga freezing my A1200
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:44:27 AM »
My A1200 works fine . But when i try and run Whichamiga , it freezes at "Evaluating System" .

Sysinfo works fine and so does everything else .

I have a Blizzard 1230 with 64Mb Ram . I have Kickstart 3.1 and im running OS3.9 .

What i can say is that before i upgraded the ROMS to 3.1 , i used to use BlizKick (to soft force the A1200 into 3.1) .

Whichamiga used to run properly .. But NOW since i put proper Kickstart 3.1 ROMS it is freezing when using WHichamiga .

I have removed Blizkick from "Startup-Sequence" since i dont need it anymore

Any ideas ?

WhichAmiga is very hacky program and is known to freeze many setups. Don't worry about it, your setup is ok.

Good to know there are no problems then :-)

It def is buggy , before i upgraded the Kickstart (when whichamiga was working) , it said my Amiga is a CDTV , despite it reporting that i have the AGA chipset , Kickstart 3.0 etc.. etc..

Yeah, well it depends on the version really, some had very obvious bugs in the detection algo. I did some fixing to http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/sw/WhichAmiga_beta.lha

It does have the same freezing problems however.

Although this topic is some two years old, I'd like to correct you on that last remark - the fix do address the freezing problems. At least to some extent ;)

I've been having these problems with my A2000 and WhichAmiga for as long as I can remember, and finally decided to Google on it. Found this thread, downloaded the Beta and - voila:
