Micronik Busboard woes again!

Well after all the problems I had getting my rev 5.43 board to work in my A1200 I decided the board was broken and bought a rev 5.44.

BUT I still have the same problem so I guess its not the board afterall.

Whenever the board is put in I just get a red screen and and the power LED flashes a few times (about 10 times!) then the system reboots.

I've checked everything I can think of now, the power seems to be okay, I've checked the connector, checked the board isn't shorting out etc.

Any suggestions? Anyone near Nottingham want to try one of the boards in their A1200 for me? (my A1200 still works fine so I doubt it'll cause any damage)

I really dont see why these boards do nothing, every other expansion I have used has worked perfect!

Sorry no.. Only thing I can think of is that the busboard itself is faulty..

I'll have to try on another A1200 then, but I don't know how I'm gunna do that without buying another  :-(

Maybe you could try to contact a user group and/or go to ine of their meetings ?

The total bar-stuard of it all is that I used to be at uni in lancaster untill I graduated this summer, back then Manc wouldn't have been too far  :-(

I have word now that it may be the mobo connector that is at fault, but I don't know what I could do to fix it.  My blizzard connects just fine so I'm guessing the a1200 side is okey dokey, how do I clean the contacts of the connector that fits onto the a1200 expantion slot?

This defies all laws of electronics, but I solved my recent Micronik problems by rotating the internal power connector 360°. It could be a coincidence, but I went from random crashes and power failures every 30 minutes to 24/7 Rock Solid Stability.

I'm not sure if it matters when you power the system through the trapdoor, but Micronik towers without busboards shipped with "Power-In Adaptors" that plug into the 1200 motherboard power socket. I still have mine connected, maybe one of those would help?

Its a shame you have so many problems. I've heard nothing good about those things. I hope you get it working. The above mentioned a power in adapter. I think thats your problem. Why not get a mediator?

I'm going to try powering through both the a1200 and the busboard then.  If I still have no luck I'm going to have a go with the Picasso installed too.

For what it's worth I'd just like to mention I've never had any probs with my Z2 board. Then again I've only got an Ariadne-II in it, so I'm probably not using it to it's max capabilities :-).

it's more the problem of getting the computer to boot at all with the board in than any problems with cards yet.

I really cant see where I'm going wrong here, there really isn't much to go wrong with these boards as far as I can see.

I've noticed where the a1200 cpu slot adapter board connects to the main busboard, there are holes in the connector that look like they are there so the boards can be bolted together, should I have the boards bolted together instead of just plugged together?

NO! Do NOT power the busboard and the motherboard simultaneously!! Well, maybe you can, but the systems were not designed with that solution in mind.

I'm trying to picture the internal workings of the Micronik case. It's possible to use the internal power supply to power the machine without a busboard. There's a connector towards the back near the keyboard interface... There must be some other power-type leads there... I'll crack open the case a little later to check.

Also, don't worry about bolting things. Mine's merely plugged together.

Are you using a custom power supply? Maybe if you could track down a Micronik original. It's officially a Fortron/Source SPI-200G. Only 200W though.

The PSU is an eyetech one, basically just a normal AT supply to which I have fitted a connector for the power.

I think I'm getting 9 short flashes and one long flash on the power LED when I try and boot the computer, then it reboots.
