Starting over...

In a few months I'll have been Amiga-less for two years... TWO YEARS!!! (Had to pay for wedding somehow, please don't flame).

I bought Amiga Foever but could never get into it.  

I put Emulators on my X-Box but it didn't hold my attention.

I am coming to the conclution that I'll always love the miggy, but only in hardware form. You know, something I can get myself elbow deep in and do all kinds of crazy mods and hacks.

But since I've been gone I've lost alot of my know-how when it comes to A-OS on ANY level.

So now I'm looking for sudgestions on what ways to get back in.  Any ideas?  Helpful pointers?

Oh, AmigaOne and the other sudo-Amigas don't interest me except for the Minimig, so ideas in those directions, unless REALLY cool, aren't realy up my alley.

If you're going to be using it for gaming then an A1200 with WHDload, hard drive and at least a RAM expansion or better still 030 accelerator card is a good setup.

Even if you want to do some serious work - graphics, video, photos, etc. along with the occasional game - the A1200 is still a good choice.
The A1200 doesn't have the problems the A4000 has with aging.
I'm sticking with one A1200, and I am happy with it.
The only sticking point is if you can find a monitor to use with it. 1942s show up on eBay every now & then....

hey J I hear ya bud ! I say get a 1200 with 030 accelerator (preferably Blizzard, a CF IDE HD, and lastly a Indivision AGA card and you will be really REALLY happy :-D

J - I'v got you beat - I was without an Amiga for over 15 years and now I got me an "new to me" used A500 and A2000 on ebay recently.  I am loving playing with AmigaOS and Wings is still a GREAT game and keeps me playing it for hours.

 Of course, my A2000 has an HD - never had an Amiga with an HD before and it is so awesome.  Now I am saving up for an A1200 with RAM/Accelerator/CF-HD and ethernet!

What I found interesting was within a few hours I could actually remember Amiga CLI commands and the file structure came back to me quickly!

Of course, the last Amiga I owned was an A500 so just working with an A2000 is been joy all byy itself.  I wish I could have afforded one of those back in the day.  

Anyway welcome back - I am glad I came back to the Amiga!
