Indivision config tool error
« on: March 07, 2009, 02:45:47 PM »
I've downloaded the latest Indivision AGA config tool
V1.1 + Indivision flash core v1.4 from the official Indivision
Computers web-site, and installed it
on my A1200 with V3.1 ROMs and V3.1 WB.
According to the readme file I've flashed the v1.4 file
first with the old (v1.0) version of the flash tool succesfully.
But after a reset/cold boot the new v1.1 config tool won't run.
All I get is an empty file requester with 2 "OKAY!" buttons.
When I press either one of the 2 buttons, nothing happens.
The old v0.9 config tool works fine though, except for the
screen position and screen timing buttons, they don't react at all.
Is there some bug in the v0.9 and the new v1.1 config tool?
Has anybody else encountered the same problem?
 :-?

Yes, I am experiencing the same problems as you so it's definitely not a random one.

Flashed with the latest firmware and I get the same empty and useless requester after attempting to load the v1.1 config tool. I don't have the v0.9 config tool so am stuck with v1.1.

I'm loath to attempt a re-flash until Jens can provide a solution as the Indivision is working brilliantly at present and I don't want to upset it  :-)

Just out of curiosity, I ran the flashing tool again and it promptly displayed an error stating that the Indivision AGA cannot be found.

Obviously it's there and functioning otherwise I'd have no display on the 19" Hanns-G HU196D connected to it.

/me thinks something is definitely  with the software

My Indivision is working perfectly too. Very strange indeed...
The software must be very buggy.

When I had my Indivision, I had to flash the upgrade twice when upgrading. Do not reset the computer between flashes. There is also some talk about having to flash twice here on the board. One flash and I'd sometimes (randomly) experience the same problems as you two.

I did flash a second time after the first attempt to start the new config tool... But with no result.  :-(

The question now is how to re-flash the Indivision AGA if the flashing software refuses to recognize it's existance  :-?

Some kind of switch/parameter given to the software forcing the flash perhaps?

I wonder if there is something screwy going on with envarc: after a soft boot/restart. Maybe try shutting the computer down for a minute or two and then see if the tool recognises the card so you can flash it.

OR... un-install, then re-install the software and if that fails - un-install and re-install the Indivision AGA.

I've tried cold booting after leaving the A1200 off overnight with the same result as before.

I guess removal of the Indivision AGA and re-install is the next step.

Bummer the (really) cold boot yielded the same result.

I'd reinstall the utility software first as that's the next easiest thing to do. After un-installing, keep the computer off for a minute, turn back on, re-install and see if it takes then. Failing that, I'd re-un-install (lol) the software again and then remove the hardware, re-seat her, boot up the A1200 and re-re-re-install the software.  LOL!

If you do both at the same time, it'll be harder to determine what exactly is the problem (be it hardware or software). Who knows... could be a combination of the two. This is starting to sound like the hardware reset problem on A1200's PCMCIA port.

I'll go with the hardware removal and refit first. I can boot from an unaltered copy of WB3.1 so that should easily discount any software problem other than any with the Indivision AGA tools.

Well I never!

After 6 removals and re-seating of the Indivision AGA, it now works for some unknown reason.

Config Tool works every time instead of crashing with that 2 button Okay requester and have flashed the new core file to it without any problem.

Possibly the Indivision was slightly off-centre but all seems good now!

Thanks for your input save2600 ... appreciated!  :-)

Glad to hear you're up and running again. You know... I wouldn't be surprised if your AGA card had some 'film' leftover from the manufacturing process. You seating and then removing it several times may have increased the conductivity of that socket. Just a thought.

I sure do miss those AGA Pinball games. The back of my Picasso II box claims it can run "system friendly" AGA software. HA! Guess they meant some of the paint programs  :-(

My problem still exist after several removals
and re-seatings of the Indivision.
v0.9 of the config tool runs and reqognizes the
Indivision hardware, but if I run v1.1, I still get
the empty requester with 2 "OKAY!" buttons.
I also noticed a strange thing with the Indivision:
The socket is slightly damaged, and there is one pin missing... :-o
This is how I received it from Amigakit. I did noticed
it before when installing the card for the first time,
but it didn't bother me because the card was working
great.
Maybe this has something to do with not running the
config tool v1.1?
But why is it running v0.9 then?
Or is it supose to be missing one pin from the socket???
