quicknet 2000 card help what can l do with this

hi l got this card with amiga 2000 l brought last year
is it quick just kidding l was hoping to get internet connected with this card is this possible

do l need speacial software l have miami dx
am rading about on amiga hardware page still confused

my router has only the flat cat 5 plugs this old card has the round coxail plug been told you l canot use it . but my pc has this type plug also so was wondering if l can netowrk to pc and then get intenet that way sounds far fetched l know

well, first things first.  do a search for quicknet (not quicknet 2000) on the following page:

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/

or you can click on the tab on the left for network cards and scroll down to it.

There is quite a bit of information about it including how to make it work with your current network.  It takes a bit of soldering but hey, it's an Amiga, you should be used to doing that kind of stuff

It doesn't require soldering if it's got an AUI (D-sub 15) connector. Then all you need is a transceiver which is quite easy to find.

thanks for that its got round old style plug and 15 pin seria; like female plug next to it whats that transceiver
thingy do am more confussed (doesint take much)

An ethernet transceiver connect to the 15-pin AUI port and has another ethernet connector on the other end. It looks like this.

Of course you can get it in NZ if you know the right people.

Another non-soldering solution is to get an old ethernet hub with both a BNC connector and some TP connectors. It should be easy to find, since such things are treated as junk nowadays.

thanks lggy at the moment went got another termintor for the old style bnc round cable so going try going from the pc card to the amiga quicknet card and first try out to see the card works okay its in the amiga 4000 know so is showing up in the early startup as board

trying out this program fileZilla server and try amiga ftp on the other side that way l can get files to amiga from the pc

its bit of mission as l have to get ibrowse and mail program on the amiga 4000 not using floppys as l cant format floppy disk athough it reads them fine aghh it be okay when its done

that way l dl the quicknet.device driver to the pc

If you can't find an AUI to 10baseT transceiver locally, you can also dig up an old hub or switch with a 10base2 (BNC) port and use that as a "bridge."  Those should be quite easy to find (though chances are even that anyone with one on offer also has transceivers somewhere in the junk bin!)...  :-D

Achtung:
I suppose you already know how to wire coaxial ethernet:

terminator - T-piece - Amiga - cable - PC - T-piece - terminator

Note that your PC's ethernet card will only be able to use one of its connectors at one time, so you can't have a TP cable connected to the card at the same time.

yes thanks for that yes l remember from way back yes.
my pc has old pci e4arthent with both conectors and the mb
has inbuilt earthenet port so switched to using the inbuilt for intenet and the pci card to run the round cable to my amiga quicknet card

hi l have the card and the QuickNet.device in devs
qwestion when run Miami init it finds several devices
quicknet q2000 device 0
goes to unit 4
and then other Commodore/cei/ A2065

only l can use is the quicknet QN2000 unit 0

l know theres switch on the back for the inbuilt amiga networking but l just want network to a pc to tranfer files
