Except for a few supervisor instructions, I believe the 68060 is instruction compatible to the 68040. These supervisor instructions should not occur in compiled code on the Amiga. They would cause a guru without using the exec.library supervisor() function call first. So while programs that fiddle with the CPU, MMU, or FPU directly will not work, the vast majority of programs compiled as 68060 should run fine on the 68040. 68060 optimized programs may run on the 68020 and 68030 but there may have been a few addressing modes added in the later processors that could rarely be used. What I'm saying is to try the v50 ixemul. The worst thing that can happen is it crashes. If that is the case then contact afa_bernd (ixemul v50 author) on this forum and report your problem. I bet he would compile a version for your specific CPU if necessary.
