Aros vs. Windows

Dear Friends:

I am thinking about buying an iMica computer with Aros.
Because the new aladdin 4d will have a new version available for this system. But wouldn't it be possible to just install and run Aros on a pentium pc?
What is the difference between iMica/Aros and pc/windows?
Pls explain...

iMica is essentially a normal PC which the hardware components are selected between the compatible ones in order to give the best AROS experience, but obviously can be partitioned to make run in dual-boot also linux or windows, as far as i know.

iMica strengths are that it all works, is small and looks nice, (i hope) and is lower power consumption. Downside is that it is not quite as quick as an equeal priced desktop system which have full fat processors. However, all in all it is a nice Aros machine.

I am afraid it is only available from UK right now but it just started shipping so maybe sometime soon US resellers will too.

If you need to ask these questions I'd seriously suggest you to reconsider. AROS is no way comparable to Windows, not by a long shot.

No, not really. I'd like to think people are smart enough to see the differences.

Well in short: Just don't go buy AROS system and expect Windows kind of functionality. Or Mac OS X, or even Linux.

Then dual or tri boot the system.  AOS/MOS/OS4/AROS does not have the resources to compete against Windows.  Linux doesn't have the resources either but it's within a stones throw of Windows.

iMica can be shipped to the states and I have, the problem is the cost. Perhaps I will try and get an American supplier but for it is about $100 to ship.

As for comparing to Windows, you cannot Aros is no where near that functionality yet. It is still a very functional hobbyist machine.
