Blizzard 1230 MK IV disable question?
« on: March 02, 2009, 05:34:38 PM »
I know I can press "2" on start-up to disable the accelerator.  Also to Hold Ctrl-A-A for 10 seconds to re-enable it after reboot...

But...

Is there a way to disable the the CPU (68030) while still allowing me to use it as a RAM expansion board?   Another key to hold down, or maybe something BlitzKick could do?  Or is it simply not technically possible?

I have a few apps that don't seem to like the CPU but I still need the ram to start them up...

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it isn't possible...

What compatibility issues are you having that require you to disable the 030 only?

I thought about that with mine but the 68020 can only have I think a limit of 8Mb of ram.
A1200/68882/AMD Slot A 1Ghz in EZPC case, Blizzard 060@66Mhz/SCSI IV, PortJnr, 194Mb fast ram, 4Gb CF HD, OS 3.9, Indivision AGA

I have a couple demos that seem to act "funny" when on the 68030.  They're WHD demos so maybe I could tweak that.  Wish I had the name of specific demo, but I'm at work...  The WHD author did mention some compatibly with faster machines, and said maybe he'll work on a better WHD loader in the future.  (guess that never happened)

Thanks for the help though, I thought it probably isn't possible but worth asking..

On the Early Startup Control screen, select "disable CPU caches".

 Click boot and that's it.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
