Hello!

Firstly, KGWHD/KGWHDLoad is my attempt to preinstall all of the whdload games for everyone so they wouldn't have the hassle doing it themselves.

Secondly, I presume you are talking about KGLoad, which is my whdload games frontend, currently in beta state.

I'm currently working on it right now and really hope to have a better, easier to use beta out ASAP.  The one in the ClassicWB packs contains information for every single game in my KGWHD packs, regardless of whether you have it installed on your machine.

But, simply put... check the setup.ini file for the "GamePath=" settings and change them to point at your whdload games.

The games have to be unzipped in your game paths and must be from my packs (or named the same as the games in my packs).

Again, once the new beta is out I'll update the docs, have a game scanner and some other new features.

@kgwhdload

Awesome! I'm so glad to know you're still working on this. What about the whdload game packs? Any updates soon?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers!

Yep I'm definitely still working on it.

Doing a big code-overhaul at the moment to make it easier to update in the future.

As for the whdload packs, I'll get them done as soon as the next KGLoad beta is out.

I defenetly see this as a strong way to preserve that Amiga's Treasures.

This is vital to all Amigan Gamers.  I was still hopping for a little more info.  I know its probably annoying answering noob questions. But... I have looked all over for information regarding the setup of WHD and KGWHD to no avail.  I have gone out of my way to make sure the ClassicWB got on my Real A1200 just to be sure everything was setup at least that far.  I have the Game packs and only intend to use the ones for the game I actually own.  I have extracted the zips on my PC and am testing in UAE first to make sure I don't screw anything up on the real Amiga. so to simplify things lets just say I wanted all the games in the 0 file to work.  I would extract them to a temp folder and then extrack all those files seperatly in to the same named directories and move them in to the gamed dir under 0_9 in classicWB

then what do I do with the dats I downloaded

or do I just have to do that update thing I found somewhere?

Thanks in advance

Before I go on, I just need to clear something up...

Are you simply referring to the KGWHD Packs (i.e. the large zips of whdload games that come in lettered zips)

Or are you referring to getting them working in KGLoad (which now comes bundled with ClassicWB), shown below?

If it's the former, then all you need to do is unzip the large '0' zip to a directory of your choice, then unzip the individual games.

The games can then be played just by clicking in the individual directories and then clicking on the games' icons.

If you are trying to play them through KGLoad then you need to ensure that you unzip them into the folders which KGLoad is looking for games in.  (This can be found in setup.ini)

Hi,

I'm in the process of downloading some of your packs and I really appreciate the work you've put into this project.

WHDLoad has always put me off due to the different requirements of the games and having someone like you bundle stuff up and make is easy is REALLY appreciated.

This is the first I've heard about KGLoad and it sounds like another winner.  :-)

So many of my floppies have errors on them that playing ADFs off my Minimig is the least painful way to do any Amiga gaming these days.  Hopefully these packs will allow me to install them on my A4000/40 instead of cursing the read/write errors.

The dat files are really just there to help people keep their collections uptodate, they are of no real use on an Amiga so just ignore them :)

@Darrin: glad to be of help mate :)

KG - Thanks for the Packs... I recently converted a bunch of your zips from various packs to LHA and I am finishing up doing the rest A to Z, hope you don't mind. Just english language versions though as that was all that I was interested in (and no CD32 or CDTV Versions - I am bit of a purist)...May I could send these to you as they are easier to transfer as LHA with Amigakits EasyADF kit and you could make an english language pack with the LHA's that I made and am continuing to make...

Sorry mate, I'm not really interested in lha versions, I've already got them all as zips.

They were all originally lzx files IIRC, but I reinstalled every single one using zip instead as I get far less questions about zips :)

@mbeuler: yep it did take years :)  Glad to have done it though, it's made my life easier in the long run!

For those interested in KGLoad (The Menu), I've made some really good progress over the last day so should have a beta soon.
