Wanted: DCTV Manual or Scan
« on: March 01, 2009, 06:05:36 AM »
Hi,

Just picked up a DCTV with no documentation or manual.

Can anyone point me in a direction to find an online scan or if not.... anyone got a manual they would like to part with?

Thanks,
Tim

Boy, that's a big manual.  I don't believe it's been scanned yet.

I've got it, plus the DCTV RGB converter.  I could try to answer your questions, though.

Here is a little bit of info.

Sandman: Wish I could help you. I have 4 DCTV units here, only 1 manual, ATM... For what it's worth, the manual isn't all that vital, largely info about DCTVPaint. Do you have any software that supports DCTV? SceneryAnimator, ImageFX, VistaPro (I think??) Also, you know the program Rend24 makes DCTV .ANIMs or frames, from any 24-bit frames? (Aminet)
Best of Luck, DCTV is a nice bit of kit.... (My dad uses his to grab frames from videotapes, saves as 24-bit, edits, and prints pictures and labels via TurboPrint)

Hi Tim,

I wrote the manual sections on the scanning, setup and a bunch of things.  Jim Meyer wrote the Paint section.

I don't have a file with the manual, and I'm not sure how the former owners of Digital Creations feel about their work being put on the web.

Generally, DCTV is fairly intuitive.  plug in the device, adjust, boot the software.  It really helps to have a second monitor so you can work on the Amiga and see the composite output.

I had to learn by watching the engineer work on a buggy version via videotape.  I haven't used one in probably 12 years.

If you send me a PM, I do have a set of video tapes I'd be willing to part with.  They were done by someone outside Digital as tutorials.  I might also have a second manual.

Hi all!

Thanks for the replies, this is a great support site! :-)

Always wanted to get a DCTV and lucked out yesterday finding a freebie one! (Along with a working 6.2 A2000, GVP Impact II card, MIDI box, etc.)  It really made my weekend!

I could never afford one back in the day so I am looking forward to finally playing around with it.

Thanks,
Tim
