ide compact flash adapter source and questions
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:14:14 PM »
Does anyone have a good source in the US for inexpensive ide compact flash adapters?  All the ones on ebay seem to have male pins like they expect you to attach them to a cable.  I want one that will lay flat on a 600 and 1200 motherboard.  It also needs to not interfere with an indivision.

Same question for CF cards.  Looks like the 4gb cards are running about $16 on ebay.  Does anyone have a cheaper source?  I'm planning on three of each.

Has anyone tried one of the adapters that takes two cf cards?

Has anyone tried the adapters that take SD cards instead of CF cards?  Is this likely to work with an amiga?

Also, are these a lot faster than a normal ide disk or about the same?

lots of questions.  thanks.

Take a look here!

I have this and this. they both work nicely with my A1200. the cf adapter was tested with a 512mb cf card.
The SD adapter was tested successfully with a 512mb and a 1gb MMC card. They should do the same with SD cards as well.
HOWEVER!
They do not like to share the IDE bus with any other device (i do not know if buffered ide controllers works (like the 4xIDE devices), since i have none of those. My a1200 runs primary on SCSI.
But hey.. for a couple of dollars and free shipping...
