Linking 2 A1200s over TCP/IP
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:49:22 PM »
Hi,
i have two A1200s and 2 PCMCIA lan adapters, both are online thru router. I was wondering how can i share their hard drives, so i can access ones hard drive from another Amiga's Workbench, like playing MP3s and modules from another Miggy, loading files, start WHDLoad games etc?
Thanks for your advice,

HardStep

FTP is probably your best bet here... Download an FTP client and server for each A1200 via aminet and you should be good to go... Run the server on both an that should make each one FTP accessible. Use the client to download the files you would like to\from each one.

I'm a huge fan of Envoy, so I'll suggest that. Samba would work as well, but it's much more of a hassle to configure.

If you go the FTP route, the FTPMount handler could also provide a nice level of direct integration.

Another approach might be to set up a file server on a Linux PC (or try Windows with Samba), which might offload some of the CPU usage from the Amigas.
