The computer itself can't beep, simply because there's no speaker/buzzer for output (theoretically there might exist an expansion that can).
Beeping through line-out would be very mysterious as all Amigas show POST problems by changing the (blank) screen background color.

If that's the result of the 'testing' the seller did lacking an appropriate monitor, I'd stay clear.

I would say, whatever is being sold in this auction is not an Amiga 1200... Perhaps it is an Acorn Archimedies A1200?

I saw the aforementioned computer on ebay.  It is indeed an Amiga 1200.  But I think the seller is a bit colorful with his description of things... he stated that his monitor "moans" that the display signal of the Amiga 1200 is out of range.

From said auction ...

Q:  Any beeping isn`t a good thing, means something wrong.
A:   Sorry - I have to disagree, the 1200 always beeped upon power-up like most mobos do in modern day PCs - anyway, problem now solved as it's been fully tested and is all OK! Thanks for your input though.

Since when does ANY miggy beep when switched on?

Me thinks this guy has been at the wacky baccy

The monitor complains because he trying to use a standard VGA monitor to get a display from the A1200 . Clearly the guy is a complete doofus and should not be allowed anything more technical than a working Atari ST
