Hi all,

I've been over on the EAB and found out for the first time that Per Gunnar (or PG on this forum) used to or maybe still does upgrade Blizzard PPC 040 cards to 060s..

I've been wanting to swap my card up until now, but when I heard that PG just upgrades them, I was ecstatic.

I've been trying to get in contact with him to see if he still does this or not but my first email to him bounced and I don't know if he still uses the second email address or not.

Can any confirm if PG still upgrades these cards or not?

Or can someone put me in contact with him, perhaps a proper working email address?

Thanks very much.
Chris

You were all correct - I got a response from PG at the weekend and shipped off my BlizzardPPC at the start of the week.

Just waiting for him to say he's received it ok.

Cheers all,
Chris

PG did the 040 to 060 upgrade on my BPPC and also replaced a damaged SIMM socket at the same time. His work is perfect! You will be quite pleased when you get yours back. Pictures of mine are in my photo gallery.

Sorry Doog!!  I wish I had seen this post before I had sent the card off to PG.  I do have one photo of my BPPC, but its in the tower...  that photo is in my album over on EAB.

I will definitely take some after pictures - we all love that hardware pr0n!

I'll let everyone know when I get it back.

Well guys, the card came back from PG the other day and this is the first day I've had a chance now to look at it.

He did an absolute kick-ass job of the upgrade!  No doubt, its working right now - I'm using it on IBrowse now as we speak!

My wife did take some photos of it, so I'll get those up here as soon as I can.  Anyone thinking of getting this done with PG should get it upgraded now.

All the best
Chris  :-D  :-D

Thought i would also put in a good word for PG.  just got my Apollo 1240 repaired and upgraded to an 68060, and yep the guy is a master with a soldering iron.  If you have a board that you want an 060 fitted to PG is your man.

I didnt have Per Gunnar's contact details so in the end I sent my Blizzard 1240/40 to JJB at AmigaCenter.com to be upgraded.

Just got the card back today. Top notch work, Ive got a fully working 060 in my A1200 now.

Thanks Jean!

Mark.

Hm... Sounds interesting. I have a Blizzard A2040 which is dying for a nice upgrade (ok, _I_ am, not the card).

I assume you have to find a functioning 68060 yourself if you want an 68040-based card to be upgraded?
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

@Jiffy,

I would email JJB @ AmigaCenter first. I sent my Blizzard 1240 on the chance he could upgrade it. Fortunately he had an 060 lying around and was able to. It might be different for your A2040 (for example, are there any other examples of people upgrading the same card).

Thanks,

Mark
