ok so i got lemmings and it doesnt work why?

Right well i downloaded lemmings (i have the original but that didnt seem to work so i thought the disk was bad) and copied it to the amiga then used adf2disk to put it on a disk. The disk loads up with the crackers name and intro etc then i get a black screen my amiga turns of and i get the orange/red message "press left mouse button to continue". Nearly half my games do this why? Ive tried using two different floppies incase i used a bad one but it still doesnt work. Anyway i can fix this or sort it out? Or did i donwload a bad adf? thankyou.

btw my machine is a a1200 with 4gb hdd no other mods

But from what i understand some games arent compatible with too new kickstart-versions!

Do you know what version you have in your beast?

im not sure i think maybe 39.xx im at work at the moment so i will check when i get home is there noway to get it working then?

Most games were written for the A500, the A1200 isn't 100% backward compatible.  You have to do some voodoo to get an A1200 to play nice, (I'm sure others will go into greater detail).

Back when I had my A1200, most of my games were either whdload-ed, or I just used WinUAE because old floppies were annoying and unreliable.

BUT IM HAVING TROUBLE INSTALLING WHDLOAD IT DOESNT LIKE MY MACHINE LOL. ANY HELP WITH THIS?

Hello, The A1200 is not fully backward compatable to run A500 software. Installing WHDLoad can be tricky as you need additional files. Please see the read me file with the game icon. The best degrader you can get is Relockick 1.4 available on ebay NOW. You just load the floppy then load your game.Then all should work! You could try Tude freely available on www.aminet.net

Whats strange here is that Lemmings is infact one of the few games that works on all Amigas without modifications. It would even detect more RAM and give you more animated effects etc.

AmiDef are you positive about this i mean 100%.

maybe the files i downloaded are wrong or something i got them from the gamesarchive.

It could be a corrupt image, or maybe the way the game was hacked. I know my original disks worked straight off when booting in my A1200. However I've had them installed on the HD for years...

Did you just try to boot with "no cache" from early-startup ? It fix most problems.

You really might want to just bite the bullet and get WHDLoad working.  It makes things sooo much easier.  No more slow floppies, read errors, swapping, etc.  Plus most games never meant to work on your 1200 will do so just fine.  

WHD seemed an easy install for me.  What problems are you having?   If your having problems post install with crashes and such, you might have some flaky hardware.  These glitches could also give you problems when running games the "classic" way from disk too...
