Noob A1200 Question...

I found this site

it shows they have for sale a decent selection of A1200 Upgrades.  

I don't know why you would want one over the others.  I do get the basics.  like more Mhz is obviously better and the more ram it can take also adds the the goodness.  But the cost leave me feeling like its to hot to handle.  Why would you want the Blizz 1260 over any of the other ones?

MHz ist not everything. For example the 68060 is twice as fast as a 68040 at the same MHz.

The Blizzard is just the highest quality design. Apollo and Viper are rather cheap in comparison.

Other factors might be important, too. For example accelerators with a maximum of 8 MB RAM usually deactivate the PCMCIA slot when fully populated while accelerators which can take more then 8 MB don't.

So the Apollo and Viper are not worth the money?  Considering there over $100 less than the blizzard?

The SoftHut catalog hasn't been updated in years, and they don't stock accelerators anymore. Your best bet is going to be ebay, amibay, or ask on the forum.

The Apollo cards generally lack some features compared to the Blizzards (Blizzards have an excellent SCSI add-on and can handle more RAM). However, IMO the Apollos were still good quality boards. They perform well, and in the case of the '060 cards, are easier to overclock (safely) and have fast memory performance.

The best type of card depends on what you want to do. An '030 card with some RAM would be perfect for classic gaming.

Exactly what I wanted to here thanks.  I will see out a 030 card then since I'm really looking to get more ram and good gaming on.
