Alien Breed with WHDLoad
« on: February 14, 2009, 03:43:38 AM »
When I try to run the WHDLoad version of Alien Breed it seems like it will work, but a female voice says "Insert disk 2". I have "Disk.2" in the Alien Breed drawer.

Anyone know what's going on?

I forget which one, but try one of these to continue loading... spacebar, return/enter, fire button or left mouse button.

Tried all that. It just sits there. I waited for about 10 minutes. Alien Breed, The Horror Continues, works fine.

Maybe I just got a bad download on the first one. I'll try again.

Thanks.

Most WHDLoad installs only work with original disks. If you downloaded them, odds are they're cracked copies and won't work.

Try using unmodified IPFs from Dream17. You'll have to run the install under (Win)UAE and then copy the directory to your real Amiga.

Before trying that, though, try playing with the tooltypes. NOCACHE and NOAUTOVEC usually help for me.

I had a similar problem a while back with Winuae.

I solved it by using one floppy drive to play/access.

Alien Breed is very fussy with its drives it only likes df0: if i remember corectly.

Is there a way to play with the tool types, other than editing s:WHDLoad.prefs?

Click the Alien Breed icon and select "Information" from the Icon menu (RAmiga+I).
