I have a non-working Phase 5 SCSIKIT IV (also called Blizzard SCSI Kit IV). It looks like these:

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1228
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/blizzardscsi4

And I wonder if working one should be visible on Amiga Early Startup Control -> Expansion Board Diagnostic...

Anyone have this card to test if it shows up in Expansion Board Diagnostic?

If I add any SIMM memory module to it, it will not show any more memory in Workbench, so I guess earlier owner has managed to broke it. So any info about things to check or suspected broken components if highly appreciated.

AFAIR it does not sshow up in early startup screen.

The scsi device should show up in any device lists if its working though

If the extra ram not showing, is is the ram.  if the ram is 100% confirmed working then does sound like the board is knackered.  I dont remember having to set any jumpers wwhen i owned one of these kits connected to a blizzrd 030 IV

Where can I find those device lists in Workbench 3.1? I could check if the card is visible there and then verify it could just be a bad contact in the SIMM memory socket. I have spare SIMM sockets, I could change there.

Ram modules are 100% surely working. I have 20 something of SIMM memory modules from sizes 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, 32MB and 64MB and I have put a all that work in my DCE Blizzard 1260T to a separate box.

According to a temperature camera there are no hot components after the card has been plugged for an hour or so. So I don't believe anything is badly scorched.

SysInfo and Scout have lists of everything in memory - try one of them.

It seems like I had a similar issue when I use to own one of these controllers. I would get Workbench to see the internal IDE controller or the Phase 5 SCSI 4 but not both. And yet they both worked. :-?

The card seems to be dead. Thanks for testing tips everyone!

you may have a damaged track.
Look on the border, it was quite common.

But it can also be your Blizzard card that got a problem..

Maybe AmigaCenter can do something for you...

It's not a broken track or bad solder. I have inspected the card on both sides and from multiple angles with 8x microscope.

It's not my Blizzard 1260 either since I had 2 Blizzard 1260s for some months, before I sold the other one. And I tested this card on both of them.

I have thought about sending it to AmigaCenter, but all the cost sending it there and back and repair costs would very likely go beyond cards value. I don't really need SCSI for anything, but if this card would work it would make possible for me adding another 128MB of memory and to have 256MB memory in A1200 (that is something that is not possible in my A4000).

Could be the main connector loosing its pins contact or some previous owner connecting wrong cable (like parallel cable) to SCSI D25 pin connector and resulting voltages go to a wrong place).

Its such a pity when you can not know names of those connectors or other parts, so you could try to trace them down from obsolete component suppliers or track down another non-Amiga equipment that uses same parts. So even if you would have the skill and equipment for it, there is nothing you can do.

Well I will keep trying. After all I have repaired those 2 Blizzard 1260 cards last year (both of them had multiple broken tracks just like CLS2086 here said, it is a common problem).

I have same problem as original poster.

I have just bought the scsi 25-pin cable to finally connect my SCSI BOX with a non formatted HD and a CDROM. In theearly boot startup I have DFO and CC0, while when typing version 1230scsi.device in shell I get version 7.19 (o smt like that)

I have connected the cable at one of the SCSI 50-pin sockets, and to the other a terminal scsi plig.

The problem is that both the CD-ROM and HD do not show on WB to laod files or format respectively.

I have a plain WB3.1 from floppy (with installed PCMCIA-CF transfer card).

I noticed that on booting, the amiga CD-ROM LED flashes on/off as there issome sign of communication.

Despite that nothing comes on WB and the devices hence appear to be useless

PS: in the early startupm there is something reckognised in the diagnostic menu, assumingly the blizzard card. It say 'working'

Long shot but try cleaning the edge connector on your Blizzard with iso alcohol. I had a problem with mine where the memory wasn't recognised until I did this.

Thanks but it was all software prob. I nearly managed to solve it.

First, one have to mount the drive by:

1) Copy (Drag that is) CD0 file from WB Storage disk located indevs/dosdrivers to WB3.1 main disk (also Devs/dosdrivers)

2) Click on the CD0 icon (at WB3.1 disk) once and select information (or Amiga+I)

3) Edit the lines so as it reads device = 1230scsi.device and unit = 2. The unit number is the SCSI number for the drive, and if it does not work you can randomly check from 0 to 7

4) Reboot to mount

==================================

Now, when I rebooted, I still got nothing on WB, and there were I started to scratch my hair. Finally I found that a file is neede in L:. I checked my L: of WB3.1 disk and did not have. (The file was called something like CDhandler). I found CDFileSystem in the L dir of Storage and placed it in L of WB3.1 I had to delete some files to make enough space

On rebooting, while loading WB3.1 the drive was spining and WB got jammed until I ejected the CD. Once WB loaded and I inserted the CD, it appeared on WB screen and files could be accessed.

My problem is now that jamming effect during WB loading. I think that I have to copy a different file from CDFileSystem.. or what - I am almost there :hammer:
