AROS @ SAM
« on: February 04, 2009, 01:01:46 PM »
Is it out yet?

Has anyone tried it?

Details?

ps. I am asking cause ATM SAM is the only system that I can try AROS. It does not run on my high end PC, there is not a version for Pegasos2 as far as I know and of course no sign of any native Amiga Classic version.

Thanks

Bye

Chris

You can try it yourself.

The Download link is from may 08, so it is probably not the latest version.

BTW. Try it on your PC again (nightly build from www.aros.org) The ATA Device has been fixed. It is now booting on all my machines including notebooks.

Just run VMwAROS on qemu or Vmware lite or bochs... Or you might try a nightly build that has support for SATA devices?

IMO you should never buy Hardware just to run an OS... The OS is there to serve the hardware not the other way around!

Interesting,

I would think it was a top down thing. Apps first, os second and then hardware?

Which apps do I want?
Which os has these apps
What hardware do I need?

@CountRaven
Like bloodline says, test it out on vmware, and there is a link like Heinz pointed out.

For your high end PC, try setting some compatability settings in the bios, like usb keyb and mouse. And have SATA disks behave as IDE disks, usually helps with troubblesome linux distros and aros.

Hey Chris

Listen to the people saying that you should use it in your PC first, just put a spare ide disk if you cannot boot the SATA one and change the keyboard to ps2 (but i think AROS supports usb devices but not storage ones...yet)

I am pretty sure you are doing something wrong! Try booting Vmwaros and use the "Emergency Mode".

Be patient, for AROS @ your EFika which will be coming in the near future! (npanag) :-D  :-D
