Sam440ep-flex: better and cheaper then ep??
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:58:16 PM »
Hi,

Just for curiosity...

I checked both Sam variants' pricing on Acube  and Sam sites.

For EP:

667 Mhz cpu, 512 MB DDR Ram, ATI Radeon M9 64Mb and Audio 5.1 onboard

465,00 euro

for EP-Flex:

667 Mhz cpu, no Ram   375,00 euro
512 MB DDR DIMM 100 pin   28,00 euro
Radeon 9250 PCI - 128 MB   36,00 euro

Summing up to: 439 EUR

So it seems, Flex version is not only an upgrade, it is also cheaper (not much though, only 6% off). So I ended up happy - when released, new Sam machine is supposed to cost roughly the same or less money than an old one, not considering some special offers here.

And it makes me think of waiting for the newer hardware.
Or maybe those all figures are just because some must be there??
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)
