Missing files from Aminet? That's a serious problem. I downloaded ADoom1.3 68K from the UK mirror on June 27, so it's vanished only recently.

To Karlos:

If you want to play Doom then get yourself a PC computer.  The best versions of Doom are on the PC and the Nintendo 64.  I should know, afterall I am the DoomMaster.     :-D

@DoomMaster...

Gee, you don't say :-) I've got a PC and it runs the various PC incarnations of Doom fine :-P
If I wanted a PC version of Doom I wouldn't have asked for "latest Amiga DOOM ports", now would I?

Right, time to go off topic :-)

Don't take this the wrong way but you really amuse me. Clearly, you seem to prefer newer, better software, else you wouldn't have mentioned PC doom ports, which are indeed the best around. They make classic doom, king in its day, seem antique.

Yet, when it comes to amiga hardware, you seem to do a total U turn. I don't have a problem with the 2000 being your favourite thing since sliced bread, but let's get realistic...

The A2000, king in its day, has been totally surpassed in performance and I would also argue, expandibility, by the very models you seem to insist are not worth owning.

Now, I'm really curious. Just what exactly do you do with your A2000 that can't be done on any modestly expanded A1200?

Going back on topic again....

@edderkop

Thanks, ADoomPPC 1.7 is indeed there. Wonder what happened on aminet? Bizzare.

@Xeron

I agree totally about the features added to 'classic' amiga doom, but since going open source, PC doom afficionados have developed the game into something more akin to Quake2.

They added fully 3D OpenGL rendering, dynamic lighting, md2 support (for models), scripting etc.  The actual list of enhancements is much longer.

I assume DM was referring to one of the above 'advanced' doom engines for PC.

I've got a mate here in Manchester heavily into creating doom mods for these newer engines and I've seen some of his work. It's good stuff :-)

Personally, I'd love to see an AmigaOS port of one of these more advanced engines (PPC with miniGL might do it).

@Karlos

Interesting. Do these updated engines still play the original levels? Do you have links for these ports?

Your best bet is to hunt around doomworld for them.

I think jDoom is one of the more enhanced engines. Hell, wheres' the_heretic when I need him? He would know but is very rarely here...

-edit-

Some JDoom shots here

JDoom is part of the doomsday package and is the best doom port outhere ;)

When Doomsday Version2 is done, it shouldbe easy to get an amiga port since version2 will be made under linux gl. I hope it becomes reality ;)

As far as i know the latest ADooms are:

ADoom v1.3 - for 68k Amiga
ADoom PPC v1.7 - for PPC Amiga

I am not too sure about DoomAttack as i haven't really bothered with it, as it doesn't seem to like my machine! :-( But i think the latest version is v0.8 or something. I think you can get both from Aminet, or just search using yahoo/google!
