Installing Blizkick
« on: January 20, 2009, 08:33:53 PM »
Hi I have a Blizzard 1240 card and I am trying to install blizkick with it. I am running 3.9+bb2 with SFS formatted harddisk. I have followed the instructions and ripped the rom with the automatic scripts in the guide. I am having problems with the start up sequence. I tried adding C:Blizkick devs/(rom) and it seemed to boot from the rom and started up into just shell. Could somebody tell me where they think I am going wrong.

Hold both mouse buttons after reboot to go into the early startup menu. See if the hard drive is available and if you can select your boot partition to boot.

If your Blizzard is like the Cyberstorm, then you have to go into the pre-startup Blizzard menu with the ESC key and turn MAPROM off. Blizkick will still use MAPROM, it just won't be turned on at startup. I would recommend getting Remus, Romulus, and the Amikit OS patches and editing your own ROM file. This will allow you to get rid of the reboot during setpatch, which can cause reboot problems, and makes for a cleaner install. You then change the S:startup-sequence SetPatch to SetPatch NOROMUPDATE or something like that.

Hopefully someone with more experience with your hardware setup will have something to add.

I assume you've inserted the BlizzKick call at the top of your startup sequence?

Hiya,

I've just tried Blizkick and I'm having the same issue.  I've read up on this other link here and even read the guide (RTFM!).

I've got a Blizzard Mk4 and I've taken the MAPROM jumper off which enables it (daft I know).  Anyway I've started off with a very basic 'BlizKick Devs:Roms/[my_rom]'

But it just boots to a DOS shell with BlizKick 1.24 complaining that I require a board with a MAPROM feature?

Anyone got any ideas?

EDIT:  Ok, got it all working now (I was just being dumb).
