A2090 maximum harddisk capacity
« on: January 20, 2009, 05:05:50 PM »
Hi folks,

I want to install a larger harddisk to my 2000. Got an old Seagate St-39173N which was originally in a SGI Indy or an AlphaStation (don't remember for sure).

Anyone knows whether my A2090-Controller can deal with these ?

I know I will need at least OS3.5, which I have, for partitions larger than 4GB, right ?

I don't think the A2090 can be expanded beyond 4GB (missing SCSI direct commands and updated drivers) - if it all. There might be as small a limit as 512 MB; BBoAH states that partition size is limited to 256 MB.

I've long ago stowed away my A2090A as it's a major pain in the *ss to set up and would rather go for another / better SCSI adapter.
